• 2024 Week 1: UC Davis @ UC Berkeley
I think one of the most intriguing things about the Berkeley game is Teddy Buchanan and LL’s interaction. From what I know, which is not that much, is that Teddy was a very beloved teammate by his Aggies who hated to see him go to cal. He and LL were pretty close and so was he and TT who has a black GF who, as well, was a friend of TB. So, how in the new world of college football do we as fans and prior teammates deal with this transfer conundrum? Further more, plough was a popular coach at cal. Cal will be heavily favored in this game. Will cal piled it on as they will be expected to do?

Seems like the Davis Commons is jinxed. Most businesses just cannot make it there: Borders, Whole Foods, Habit Burger, Plutos and Gap. Numerous other retail stores all failed. I realize davis people don’t like chains, but this is ridiculous. I wonder why the new University mall owners think they can pull it off there. Does anyone know what they have in mind tenant wise?
  • What happened to the Carrell brothers at Oklahoma?
So we could pick him up? Dad would love I think. I recall he was a pretty good pitcher out of high school. Who the hell knows these days?

Thanks for the input, but the Grad was something else. Big long bar, games for the kids, dancing for the Bigger kids; place where aggie opponents would come in for a meal and stand in line with their aggie opponents and be friendly. None of these other places seem to make that fit. But I may be wrong. Sadly, the Graduate in Berkeley has announced it’s closing as well. What the hell?? Question
: is the university mall being rebuilt now?

I have no idea where to post this, but I do know that the Grad was intimately connected to aggie sports and is sorely missing to most of us. So here it goes. I stumbled upon the plans for the new mall project that is going into the old davis commons mall space and I saw that a central 7500 sf tenant space was in the plans. Not exactly where the grad was, but close and very similar in size to the ole grad. As I don’t live close to davis anymore I have no information about the proposed tenants, but for any locals or near locals, is there any chance that the project will have a similar tenant as the grad? Like so many of us I practically raised my kids with birthdays at the grad and it would warm my heart with any news that something like it could be coming in the future. Anyway, does anyone have any ideas on this?

Didn’t know where to put it. Judge still has to approve the settlement. Claudia Wilkin is a very smart judge and she may see thru this terrible result. I know, big 10, sec, etc can handle this BW, BS, not so much. We will see a lot in tomorrow’s news

This just in: NCAA settles player’s lawsuit regarding pay for play. $2.8 billion! So now the question is who is paying for this? And it turns out, incredibly, that the smaller leagues will be paying almost a third of the settlement (990 million dollars) and they were not even named in the lawsuit! This development is way too complicated to even consider summarizing it here. It it appears to be very flawed and poorly thought out. Will a soccer player be paid the same as a star quarterback? Will women’s sports be paid the same? How does Title IX fit in? Are players now employees? Congress has to step in here and try to straighten things out if it is even remotely possible.

Is anyone seriously challenging MH for the QB position?

    So plough will be HC/OC?
  • 2025 Football Recruiting
I was wondering the same thing. Or maybe for more money for the assistant coaches. So is it set that plough will act as the OC on top of his HC duties? I sometimes wondered if football teams were a bit over coached, but then when you factor in recruiting maybe not so much.
  • Portal Watch (2024)
Don’t these guys scout out the possibilities before they jump into the portal. I know that Brooke Yanez was actively contacted by oregon before she Jumped. By the way what is the status of their scholarship while the are in the portal?
  • Portal Watch (2024)
Good information toke. Stay on this as we need you.
  • Portal Watch (2024)
I’m wondering is this the what the future holds for college sports? Everyone hits the portal because why not give it a shot? Is there any disadvantage for doing so?
  • WBB: 2024 Big West Tournament
I’m a big Mazzie fan especially when she was mocked in her freshman year by I recall the Hawaii guys for her “awfully hard to pronounce funny name” yes she is amazing now and finally getting her appreciation by many fans.
  • Finally, a Business Major
Didn’t we always have a “Managerial Economics” major which is in essence is a business degree program run out of the Ag Econ program. I also recall that in the sixties or thereabouts after longstanding complaints from the State University system UC ceded all lower division business administration majors to the CSUS as well as undergraduate nursing and a few others I don’t recall. The UCD a program was an end around that prohibition and was not appreciated by the CSU people at all (read sac state). So I would think a revision of this decision would be somewhat newsworthy and I haven’t seen anything about it in the news. But if true I support it 100%. It’s a very popular major as I recall.
  • Aggies in past years
Bob Hamilton. I saw him once at a game at Hickey Gym call a time out and tell the team who he was very upset about to “go coach your selves” and then go into to the stands with his towel in his mouth. I actually thought I was seeing something, but no he never came back. Hamilton was a great person and coach. Who would do anything like that now?
  • Aggies in past years
I do indeed remember Tom Woods and he was an outstanding player and yes an excellent passer. If memory serves he shared the floor with Gordon Barranco who was himself a great guard and later an esteemed judge of the Alameda County Superior Court. Other outstanding players of those 60s teams were as I recall Al Steed, and John Frost among many others. These guys would now be in their 70s. I wonder how their lives went after UC Davis?
  • Causeway Cup 2023-24
Great Washington post article on Teresa Gould being the new Pac 2 commissioner today. She is In almost an impossible situation. I always thought she was just great when she was here. Can she pull this very bad situation out? She needs new conference members and she is forbidden from poaching the WAC by contacting rules. Yet she sits on a PAC 2 endowment of millions of dollars. Could she patch together a mix of BWC and BWC schools to do this. You only have to have 6 colleges with 6 sports to do this according to NCAA rule as I understand the NCAA rules. Should this be an option? Or even possible?
  • MBB: UC Riverside(11-15, 6-8) @ Aggies (15-10, 10-4) 2pm Saturday 2/17
Don’t be so depressed. We just beat Baylor! In equestrian. . . Well, some good news does along ways.
  • 2024 Football Recruiting
Jalen Harris. Looking at his clips I would have to agree that highlight film is hardly the way you’d recruit a player. But his is is pretty good nonetheless. His stats on the other hand are very impressive as is his speed. Very very elusive as well. What Larison has brought as he matured is a mix of Ulo elusive ability and speed. Ulo was fast but not at LL’s level. JH has LL speed and maybe a tad more. Being so close at Berkeley he was probably very well scouted. So I am not surprised that the coaching staff is very happy to get him. I can’t wait to see him play!
