• Students to vote on defending ICA?
Movie I seldom if ever agree with you, but on this one I do! PE decision was stupid. Cancel and move on. Whatever you think about may, he should be able to figure this one out.
  • Students to vote on defending ICA?
I have no insight on what’s going on at the campus on this issue. With the Covid thing and remote classes, who knows what the kids will do, especially when they can’t even go to a game!
What I do know is that an overwhelming number of the kids that will be effective are minorities. So, take away the athlete grants to many minority kids and that should not set well with the student electorate. Yes, the white kids from wealthy families will not be effectively denied much with this as they can pay whatever. I do not sense the guy who promoted this idea has really thought the whole thing though. But, What he hell do I know?
  • Should Cheer Leading be an Olympic Sport?
I seem to recall that UCD’s cheer squad was very inclusive and not limited to the “hotties”. Also recall that when they were at a game versus Hawaii the Hawaii guys on their broadcast team called them “the ugliest cheer team in the BWC.” So, there you go with the “inclusive” thing. . .
  • Should Cheer Leading be an Olympic Sport?
Great story in the NYTS about the show “Cheer” that has returned to very mixed reviews. Story is about a Dallas suburb JC Cheer team which is apparently “world class” in its “sport” which I have previously maligned. I retract all my previous negative posts here. These young women risk theirs lives on this activity. My only complaint is Why? They have more injuries than most men’s sports. Sad. Wish I could paste this article but I will learn soon
  • Students to vote on defending ICA?
My general feeling is that everything else being equal students would vote to reduce their fees. But everything else is not equal here. Students value their degree and know the prestige of the institution from which they hope to get their degree is very important to their future success and self image. They will eventually realize that a vote to virtually eliminate ICA sports will be a permanent black mark on the reputation of the university which they hope to graduate from. I realize the ICA fee is kind of high, but, really, against the very high tuition they now pay, not really that bad. “Oh, we’re you in the class that eliminated ICA sports at UC Davis?” I wouldn’t like to take that question at my intake interview. But who the hell knows what they will do. “This a case that should be settled!” An old and very wise judge once told me. Put PE back. Move on.
  • New HC is Tommy Nicholson
I was thinking that the academics issue would help, as OK is not exactly noted for it’s academic prowess and the dad no doubt knows that. But yes, the lure of the “big time” programs looms large in the minds of young men. So, I agree, not going to happen.

Wonder if we get those Carrell kids back? Probably no way. What a loss to the team and the community. If they did it would be a boon to the program. Not holding my breath.
  • The Fate of the Grad
Is the old university plaza getting torn down? Someone very smart should realize that the students would very much support a reincarnation of the grad when it is rebuilt. Parents, kids, students, athlete teams, dancing, and much more. It is justo much of an UCD institution to go permanently down into history. If much younger I would give it a try. I am sure others feel the same?
  • MBB: Portland (8-6) at UCD (6-3) 2 pm Wednesday 12.22
Just shows the problems with a guard heavy offense. Great when hot. Terrible when cold and then there’s no fallback to go to. And when morale drops, there goes the defense. . . .
  • JT O'Sullivan steps down as Patrick Henry High School head football coach
The eternal search for the “Got it” when we don’t have the “Got it”. I don’t fault Cody at all for the disappointment this season. HR went down and that really was it for the season for us. Cody could only do what he could at that point and MH just was not enough although he was absolutely not bad at all because in the BS you as a QB have to be able to run the football. That just a given. I think with TT and a strong OL we will do much better next year. Yes, TT can learn to pass very well!
  • WBB: Gonzaga (8-2) at UCD (5-4) 2 pm Sunday 12/19
Watch it now. Everything said is right. I think Sanders is coming doing absolutely great. I also think Swandholm is coming into her own. Great athlete.

Is there any way to watch these games on replay?
  • 2021 FCS Football Playoffs
Somethings up here and I don’t know what it is? Are we waiting for the portal guys? Very interesting to see.

If you were a cute girl at the prom would you dance with the first guy? I do not think so, unless he was very very good looking. I think the Aggies are on to something here. IMHO transfer portal is going to be a very much bigger thing in college football in the future. Yes. I am a dull one. Although I do not like it at al. Going maybe to destroy the college game as we know it. But, What hell do I know?

When the announcement comes it will either be very disappointing or excellent, i the perineal optimist think it will be the later. Hawk is an excellent recruiter. Do not be pessimistic. . . I hope.
  • New HC is Tommy Nicholson
Great hire. He will do very well here. Charismatic young coach with a great family. Wish him well. Big job to do but doable no doubt.

    How do I do it?

HR was great as long as it lasted. Multiple concussions? If he was my son I would say no more. The sight of his dad holding him after the last concussion was heart breaking. But I love this kid to death. Move on and be great at what you do!
