    “The Kiddie Dome,”

It’s the Kibbie dome. I think I just heard Doug Kelly mis-naming it to as Kiddie Dome.

Riveraggie, look for “live sports” that will get you to the section that the live big sky games will be on. As SloStang said, the “old channels” are showing replays. Saying that I think o will check to see if they have spooled up any games from this spring to date as I think I will miss at least part of not all of some games as live.
  • R.I.P. D2 football in California
Across the continent we had an interring system going at NC State. Some employees would retire after 5 years and get medical coverage for life (0 premium). I know at least 2 young guys who “retired” from NC State after 5 years. The university finally got some actuarial sense and increased that to something lime 15-20 years. I came into the University system later in life so just went with 401b 457, etc. that turned out to be a wise choice. I had colleagues who were on federal retirement systems (federal research was the system) and retired at full salary. It got to be so i work or retire with the same salary. A pretty easy choice. And their salaries were quite good (maybe not up to Bay Area standards).

I do know that CSU faculty salaries are an issue (don’t know about retirement).
  • Start of season to be delayed
Wonder if Poly is OK with fewer games. Just lay low until Baldwin can get another recruiting year in to get players more suitable for a new offense. Could go the way of No. Colorado with their née coach.

Maybe the playoffs will end up being a Missouri Valley conference championship series - they seem to have fewer restrictions out there. Hope that is not the case. UND folks are pretty excited after their first 2 victories in their new league.
  • ESPN*
NDSU is just not the team they have been the past few years. They were not that impressive in a win against a bad Youngstown State team and today they had no offense. Their QB is big and not very mobile and was very inaccurate today and their running game was no better. If the season progresses to a championship series, I don’t see them making the finals and unlikely semis- let alone winning a MC again. They look to be back on earth and quite mortal.
  • Montana, Montana State opt out of spring FCS championship season
So, if all this timing is correct, we've had a missed season, a partial "off-season", lose our OL Coach and our OC to Boise, and will be playing Cal Poly about 1 month thereafter. Oh, and no fans, strict COVID protocols that will leave teams without key players week-to-week. No wonder teams are not participating in this spring season. Makes you want to just wait for vaccine rounds to hit the mainstream then see about a proper fall season.

    My sentiments exactly.....
  • Montana, Montana State opt out of spring FCS championship season
these transfers transfer most often because they are not good enough to start - and expect to easily start at a “lower level” school. Did t work for the iowa state guy at ND State, expect it not to happen for the NC State transfer to Montana State but might happen at Weber as Constantine is gone and Weber isn’t exactly QB Univ.
  • Montana, Montana State opt out of spring FCS championship season
I always get a chuckle when player safety is brought up (particularly with Covid) in the context of football when there are so many injuries in college football. I do think I’m the case of the Montana schools that prepping for a season beginning in February is pushing it. Don’t know when the season stArt date was set but it would seem to be a valid decision right off the bat. Just have to wonder if things are going to start to unravel in big sky and if trying to do a 6 game schedule with Covid not getting better is going to work out logistically given all the rules/restrictions.
  • COVID-19
agalum one thing that most politicians, especially in California, are NOT shifting on is the idea that the demonstrations that occurred during the week just before that upturn had ZERO impact on the surge. If so, I see ZERO reason you couldn’t have several thousand sports fans well spread out at A’s, Giants or Aggie games. Masked, but spread out 6 feet or so.

That’s my one and only COVID opinion post

Agee completely. Very weird seeing completely empty football stadiums on west cost that seat 70,000 plus. Diversity in CA is a religion until it comes to politics and thought. Looking forward to more “normal times” and all of the atmosphere that makes college football great.
  • Spring Schedule
I think the majority of football players at Davis realize they are not going pro and would complete their degrees in 5 years (redshirt year included). So unless they want to stay around for graduate school and still play-I don’t see a lot of logic in another year of eligibility. If those slots are taken, seems like you are mortgaging against the incoming freshman cohort in future years. If this is the situation across all FCS then it seems reasonable- but others have already played this fall and likely will have more than a 6 game season. If you are putting all your chips in for fall 2021 it might make sense, but I still think it’s not the best way to go (allowing another year) at this level.
  • Big 10 Coming back, Mtn West pushing, Boise St furloughs
my point was the lack of logic in limiting spectators to that few. In an outdoor stAdium with say 70,000 seats you limit spectators to say maybe 500 at most? I can see no tailgating, but to limit to that extent in an outdoor facility seems draconian. You could have a half-way decent experience with a spread out band and say 10% or 15% of capacity.
  • Sac opts out of spring football
agree. I think if a team or league opts out of playing then you should be prepared to move on and not retain scholarships. Players still get their education. It may be unfortunate but that’s life. As you say, make room for the next cohort and hit the real world.
  • Big 10 Coming back, Mtn West pushing, Boise St furloughs
Just saw a trailer on espn that pac-12 was only going to allow patents/relatives into games with no general public allowed. I first thought that was stupid, but then realized, that at least for the Bay Area schools, it’s about their normal attendance anyway.....
  • Games Actually Being Played
Obviously. Did you see Jabrel Cox (NDSU transfer) now at LSU. Long time since he’s lost a game.
  • Games Actually Being Played
I think Mississippi State has a better defense than Wazu. Great win for Miss. State. Win lose or draw they will be exciting. I would not be happy if I was a Cougar fan. Lost a good coach and comedian.

Fun game to watch. I am pulling for the Bulldogs.
