yeah i do agree its def a shakeup, especially with schools and their academic reputation for those who live on the west coast

I do have to say one thing that should be noted is being in the MW we do still have membership in a conference that is mostly made up of large, research based, flagship schools, with the facilities to match, compared to some of the big west members.

they put somewhere in the press release they are hoping to be able to stay as an affiliate member but are “prepared” to look at other options

What I’m curious about is how this will affect recruiting for non-football sports. Assuming the MW will be intriguing for recruits… guess we will have to see what the first few years look like competition wise.

I think the big west limits national recognition to a certain extent. I can see what you are saying but id image a lot of student athletes would enjoy a higher level of competition + the larger media coverage. I think playing teams across the west is kinda cool but Im also not a student athlete so I cant talk. While I have my own personal views on all this crazy movement of teams, I think we need to position ourselves in a competitive direction, and this does that long term imo.

He killed it with this move. Hoping this does actually pave a path to football membership, but ill wait and see if the stadium expansion posts were more than teasers.
