    LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOO AGS!
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
As per usual on Saturdays, when I'm all wired up after a week of building really cool, big s#@!...I found myself up at 3:30 am watching motivation videos while cleaning the house.

I came across the story of Inky Johnson, a kid who came from the absolute dirt poor Atlanta neighborhood of Kirkwood...and blazed a trail to the University of Tennessee after Coach Fulmer took a chance on him. Listening to Inky talk about his life as a youngster, and all the setbacks he has had....he still realizes that the work he put in and choices he made to get to that next level changed the whole trajectory of his family history. One of the best quotes is how Inky was offered 3 things to do when he went on his official visit to Knoxville: 1) Go to a BBQ 2) Go to the Basketball game or 3) Go to a Sorority Party...he chose none of them, just wanted to go back to the hotel, and all he talks about is how that was the first time in his life he slept in a bed all by himself. It's incredible.

Really, a great mindset and life philosophy, and I think it's this kind of energy you find around the right college football programs in America. I honestly think Hawk has brought this back to Davis, and I also think he picked up most of it from the original Zen master himself Jim Sochor.

Well, it's a big day on the road for the Ags. Nothing gets the blood pumping like an in-state rival.

To quote Lieutenant Jean Rasczak, "WARM IT ALL UP! EVERYTHING YOU GOT!"

  • Week 8: Big Sky
All the Aggies will find each other in Fargo, I've got a friend who still lives in town, an Engineer for Cass County, good guy, I'm sure he'll have something brewing. I might have to get back on Facebook to coordinate better with him.

I see where you're going there! I'd be on that plane in a heartbeat. Can't wait for @ Fargo next year...been there once before but had to get in and out. This time, on game day I hear it's a real fun town.

Does the ISU coaching staff have any ties with Liberty? Interesting schedule pick up, good one too. We used to take trips to Texas and Youngstown and the Northeast. Not anymore of course.

There is some added luster to NDSU right now as they sit in the FCS level of football. They're perennial Championship contenders and play a hard nosed, high level of football that landed their former quarterback a Top 5 overall pick and now currently starts for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Winning a ton of games in FCS is more fun than being mediocre in a mid-level FBS conference - and I dare say it's healthier in that the pounding you take every week isn't as rough as that of a FBS schedule. However, that kind of beating is what the NFL looks for, those who possess the toughness to play at a high level through pain against the best college competition. There's a reason why the vast majority of NFL draftees and UDFAs are from the FBS programs.

How is Daniel Fells doing? I know he had some serious health ailments later in his NFL career that took him out of the game.

Plainfield Station is a slice of heaven on earth.
