Another UNH note from 2005, Chip Kelly was the offensive coordinator there at the time. I think it was former Aggie Mike Bellotti who saw his offense as revolutionary and brought him to Oregon to run the wide open Ducks scheme we all know so well today.

2005 season was tough, that loss to Grand Valley State, that was tough, that was such a hard fought game, and scheduling the best DII program in the country at the time...who had just won a DII National Championship - interesting choice. Remember walking at the entry gate after the game as the players were walking back from Toomey into the locker room, the Grand Valley State guys were straight up barking and acting nuts, "They say we lost too many seniors. Raaaaah." Like they were legitimately kind of crazy mentally...but they played hard, and they beat us.

Hadn't even heard, but apparently Wrighster has been recovering from a shoulder injury most of the '24 season.

Good points Mike. I too hated to call the win vs. Stanford a "curse", but it was literally the peak of Bob Biggs and showcased his ability to bring big talent to Davis and play way over our heads through scheme, preparation and sheer will.

The machine was primed, but admin just skipped the overhaul and upgrades and let the ole' girl run for another 10 years. We were so shredded by the end of the Gould era. Thank the Gods for Kevin Blue and Dan Hawkins. They literally changed the face of UC Davis Football and UC Davis Athletics.

Barragan, right - he came off the bench and put a drive together to win Causeway in '03.

Those were the last years where they had Causeway deep into the night - and over at Sac, Aggie fans were walking around in groups, and there were tons of cops on horses walking the lots just making sure nobody got any ideas about jumping a rival. The good old days! When the bad blood made you take note of your surroundings, trying to explain that kind of situation to my niece and nephew is strange, they can't fathom being in fear of getting attacked at a sporting event.

Was it '05, '06, '07? I know Plough threw the last TD, but the Aggies marched into Bozeman and beat Montana State 45-0.

Whoever said the crazy 2018 game at home vs. Idaho State, in overtime, double overtime (?) - I never got to see the finish because my buddy was so drunk at the game I had to walk him out before security threw us out - so we ended up watching the finish at The Grad.

Winning at Tulsa - overlooked win, that was crazy...I know we beat San Jose State as well one season - think it was Mark Johnson's defense who held the Spartans to like 13 points? 2010 I believe...and the 2018 squad laying 44 on SJSU - that's when we all knew that team really had something, certainly on offense, the Aggies were going to be potent.

Favorite Causeways - 2018 in Reno, thumping them so awfully bad to get the high Playoff seed, remarkable. The second. 2003 ran Mahasin 34 times and beat Sac 31-27, Flanigan threw it 12 times all game - it was so anti-Aggie in the win, but Mahasin was a beast, ran for over 170.

Favorite Horseshoe was 2004, was a super tight game, comeback game winning TD drive on a play Bob drew up on a napkin on the bus ride down. Won 36-33 and my high school football teammate secured the win with a pick at the end of the game.

Is the field even playable today?

Yeah, I was going to say, there are some guys from the my father's era that donated in other ways, ie, the racks and weight stacks in the Edwards Family Athletic Center. May not show up as ca$h, but having good, forever equipment was a huge donation for sure.

Hunter seems like a character. He wasn't shy about all those field goals he nailed in Missoula last fall.

It takes a lot of people to steer a massive ship in a new direction.
I'd be stoked for a 2027 or 2028 jump, provided we have a plan...and money.

DrMike That is a big piece of news regarding retaining Nava and Simonson, they aren’t listed on the roster.

Big news indeed, and good news.

A night time Saturday spring game would be great for attendance. Maybe get lucky and score a baseball game over at Dobbins in the day or what not.

Appears Davis will be the 'home' team for this one.

We're corrected, I distinctly remember that 2026 buzz that Davis was playing @ UNLV - but I guess that fell through.

Oh am I mixed up? Let me check that out.
  • Looking forward to 2025

    2025 starts like this:
    @ Mercer in Alabama
    @ Utah Tech
    @ Washington

2026 starts like this (will be confirmed):
    @ San Diego
    @ UNLV
    @ SMU

That's four money games in two years to start the year (what's the money deal with the Mercer game with ESPN, curious) - sounds like a ramp up to help pool the funds needed to jump to the Mountain West. Have to think that with a jump, an upgrade to the Stadium will be required. Need a bump to at least 25,000, with Utah State being the smallest capacity stadium in the Mountain West currently at just over 25k. THAT, to see it mildly is a massive jump in capacity, a massive overhaul project - and a massive leap of faith that we can get anywhere close to that many fans showing up to watch Davis play Wyoming.
