Based on what I saw, it looks like ESPN+ is dumping a lot of the bad broadcast quality games to FCS schools...ie, they aren't even bothering to broadcast FCS vs. FCS games.

Hope he has a clause to renegotiate - they're on a fast track trajectory to the upper echelon of the conference... a lot can happen in 6 years.

    Some Idaho State recent media:

  • Battle for the Golden Horseshoe: UC Davis @ Cal Poly

Seeing those chairs brought back a lot of memories...I also remember in those '03, '04 and '05 seasons we had some pretty epic games with Poly...they had (and still do) some serious studs on defense. Always within a touchdown either way -- then we officially moved up and Poly went on to slaughter us for a few years under Ellerson -- '07 and '08 the Mustangs were dominant.

Then somewhere around 2018 - the year we were one defensive stop away from the Semi-Finals, the Aggies began to just annihilate the Mustangs routinely. Last year's game in SLO was hopefully an indicator of a return to competitiveness between the programs. Rivalries are only good when both teams are good.

Just bought my tix to Portland.
  • Battle for the Golden Horseshoe: UC Davis @ Cal Poly

Dude, I used to sweat my ass off in Mishka's doing Advanced Reinforced Concrete and Matrix Structural Analysis problem sets...hours, literally hours, just going nuts off their very, very good coffee.

Seeing the vs. Poly game in mid-November at the end of the regular season should be a hell of a turnout right before Thanksgiving. Looking forward to this one, we had a good game last year - and it'll be exciting to see where both teams are at - could be a game that means a lot beyond the typical connotations.

Colter - when Davis eventually jumps up to the Mountain West, I personally will miss your steadfast coverage of all the Big Sky schools. Having you on the scene is really a blessing.
  • 2026 FCS Football Polls

Uh, nobody - they run the table in a weak league, but they are very well coached and they do play good team football. To their credit they played a very tough game vs. Villanova in their opener in the '25 playoffs. Lost 14-7, at home.

Idaho State on the upward trend and then some - big step taking season for them in 2026.

It's too bad Davis @ ISU isn't on the 2026 schedule, after the game last year in Davis, that would be a hot ticket, one I might go to actually.

    Check out Utah Tech's Schedule:
    vs. Montana State
    @ BYU
    @ Montana
    vs. Northern Arizona
    @ Northern Colorado
    vs. SUU
    @ Portland State
    @ Poly
    vs. Idaho State
    @ UC Davis
    vs. Eastern Washington
    @ Weber State

    That is f***ing brutal.

Well, everybody shut up now until he signs!
  • UC Davis Athletics Joining Mountain West - Football to Follow

Well, that's how long they waited - and to NDSU's credit they jumped at a very good time amid all these conference shake ups.

The SUU experience - especially the stadium experience - left a little to be desired. It's interesting with the whole Coliseum concept, but if improvements haven't been made since 2013 (last I saw it) - then you might be disappointed, still lovely country though, and as someone who has seen both - I think St. George has better expansion potential, better proximity to Vegas and a really cool town, nice people, the students showed out pretty well for the Davis game last year, and it was a tough game, they played hard, Aggies just outclassed them in the skill game, but Utah Tech could go on a run if they can find a quarterback to lead them and the murder schedules finally end.

Also, to St. George's credit, we were having a few pops around campus and nobody gave us any kind of a hard time. Also, BOTH schools need to ditch the track - but everybody's got budgets...thing is, Utah schools have a lot of space, they should separate facilities.

  • Aggie Ascent - Facilities Master Plan Release
You know at the end of all the seating enhancements, eventually there's going to have to be an upgrade to the Daktronics stadium board, or maybe add a second board to the North end
  • Aggie Ascent - Facilities Master Plan Release

I honestly don't care if the announcement comes out - I just think that for Davis to be legitimate there needs to be measurable facility upgrades each season, starting with Football - not starting on the Club Boxes by next February and finishing them for the 2027 season seems like a total failure in my eyes.

Are those Club Suites going in next spring?

Here's a blast from the past guys, just now over 40 years ago in what looks like Jim's UC Davis Aggies @ Bob Mattos' Sac State Hornets late in the year in 1985. Looks like a mud bowl style game with active rain during the contest in what I think is old Hughes Stadium? Maybe that's on the Sac campus: This was the 16th of 18 straight seasons that Davis beat Sac - crazy run.
