• FCS Playoffs Round 2: UNI @ UC Davis
I honestly think the student tailgate is such great idea. We currently have no football culture on campus and it will take time, and more wins, to really change that culture. Encouraging students to come out for more than just football is a great way to kickstart cultural shift. All of these big D1 schools whith students waiting in line for tickets have a gameday culture which includes tailgating. It stretches past the stadium and into their cities. I think doing stuff like this and encouraging student groups to have their own tailgates could be a huge boost to our own gameday culture.

Defense gets off the field. Now we need to keep the offense moving!

Does anyone else have issues connecting to the big sky feed. I keep getting network connection errors.
  • Will the Fans Ever Really Come Back?
As a current student I can't tell you how much it annoys me that we are loud on offense, don't make any noise on defense and that we can only seem to get truly loud when free stuff is thrown. It's ridiculous. I spent a lot of the fourth quarter trying to hush the students while we were on offense and then get us loud on defense. Especially during those big third downs. I absolutely love football and love this school but it's hard to sit in the student section when there is no good direction from the Aggie pack leaders.

Too many alumni have told me the same thing. Must have something with being up the road from Cal and being the second choice of so many students.

I think that would be a great idea. It would make the rest of the student population understand that the athletes are students as well. They are not a separate group.

I also think it may help spread Aggie Pride a little bit. Sometimes it feels like a lot of students don't take pride in going to Davis. When you walk around Berkeley and talk to some students they radiate pride for their school. I haven't felt that here.

As a current student sitting in the student section, it seems like most of the students don't understand the game and that we can actually help the team by being loud behind their bench. If the student section is on the visiting sideline then that gives the students a chance to heckle the opposing team. When this happens there are students who start apologizing for it. I was thinking we are at at football game and the students don't want to risk hurting the other teams feelings. SMH.

I agree that we need to get more energetic Aggie Pack leaders. I also think that we need to find Aggie Pack leaders that understand the game. Too many times I've gone to a game and the leaders call for loud cheers while the offense is that the line of scrimmage trying to make calls and then it seems like they never call for noise while on defense. It makes the offenses job harder and doesn't help the defense. To an extent the students can help the team win and in turn get more people to the games.
