They got some big boys on the line, but you always have to factor in how athletic are they at that weight. Some players are better at it than others.

Conversely to their offensive line, I was surprised that a lot of their defense looks on the smaller side to me at least.

I took a look through all of the big sky team's athletics sites and we are in the minority of teams that haven't listed a full media guide or game day notes. While disappointing, I'm not gonna let it bring down the fact that the season starts tomorrow! Football season is back! GO AGS!

They added a "preview" on the athletics website, but still no full game notes as far as I can see.

I agree with the sentiment that we can't underestimate Commerce, but that's generally how I feel about every game. I fully agree with you that this is a game the Aggies should win convincingly if we want to be a playoff team this season. If we lose this game, we're in for a LONG season in the Big Sky.

I wonder when we're going to get game notes posted online considering it's a Thursday game this week. I like looking at the list "2 deep" even though I know it's going to say 'player A' OR 'player B' at every position like it always does under Hawk.

At least in my opinion (which isn't worth much to be perfectly honest) the only thing that I find worrisome about this game against Commerce is the "unknown factor" with having a new coach/system. Commerce relied a lot on their defense last season to keep them in games, but they've lost their top 2 tacklers, leader in sacks, and leader in interceptions from last season. On offense they may be without their dual threat QB from last season and lost their go to receiver. But I guess my point is that who knows if any of that really matters when you're going to have new schemes, new playbook, etc. Cal Poly, Sac State, and Weber all kind of fall in the same category for me in that they could fall anywhere on the spectrum between significantly worse to significantly better... there's just no way to know.

That being said, I believe that the Aggies are going to leave Texas with a W.

I'm sure that the offense will look different with a new guy at the helm, but I don't think it can be understated how critical Armstrong (the receiver that went to Arkansas) was to what offense they had last season. The team as a whole had 20 passing TDs on the season with 13 of those going to Armstrong. I'm sure some of their other guys will step up in his absence, but you don't easily just replace that kind of production.

Hutton, Davis, Kraft, and Tompkins first to be singled out for the WR group and Gale was called the starter for TE at this time.

In terms of kickoffs, I'm pretty much always against attempting strategic short kicking. Boot it out the back of the endzone every time.

I have not been able to find one. Not sure if one exists.

I'm really intrigued to see how much gametime freshman Mascheroni gets. He's a much bigger body than most of our returning contributors and his tape shows speed and sticky hands (of course that's the point of highlight tape). We need a guy who can just get open downfield though, I agree with you.

As long as the kicking and punting isn't noticeably bad then I am happy. Hopefully we just don't have to see much kicking and punting this season in general :grin:

I think one position I have questions about (and I had the same question last season) is if someone will step up at WR and be THE go to guy. We have depth, but not that Keelan Doss caliber player that can change the offense.

This is true. Even at positions like RB where we lost Gilliam we return plenty of experience with Larison and Perez. I think Fisher could get carries as a freshman too.

I'm not saying this is a sure fire win or anything like that, but with the experience that this team has especially playing quality opponents, I would be pretty damn disappointed if we lose this game.
