New offer out on 3 star QB, Jalen Chatman. This kid is the real deal. His junior year he threw for 3926 yards while completing 69% of his passes. Tossed 52 touchdowns with only 9 interceptions, good enough for a QB rating of 136. On top of that he rushed for over 600 yards.

1st team All-State, Junior POTY, while keeping a 4.0 GPA.

I find this so interesting. I think Gould and staff as well as the fans had always kind of pegged Spencer as the QB of the future. Weird that he has fallen so far. Accuracy definitely wasn't a strength of his in HS and I guess that he wasn't able to improve on it. I wonder where else they are thinking of playing him? Hawkins isn't a coach who is afraid of things. He absolutely will start a freshman if he thinks that they will give us the best chance of winning.

Wow, that's an interesting development regarding Spencer. I agree that we need to just pick a guy and go with it and only change if it's really a disaster. Always kind of frustrating how Gould would at least say that a guy wasn't picked until the week of the 1st gsme although he may have actually picked one earlier than that.

New starting QB and RB

New offer (from a couple days ago that I missed) out on a local kid out of Rocklin. DE Nick Eaton. His hudl profile only had him listed at 215 pounds, so he is going to have to either bulk up to play DE in college or maybe play some LB. GO AGS!

New offer out on DE Colton Lamson from Sac City College. Big kid listed at 6'5 260.

New offer out on TE Tae Le from Huntington Beach. Saw on twitter that he has above a 4.0 GPA and by the end of the year will be one of the top TE/WR's in southern California. Scout has him ranked as the 3rd best TE in California, 22nd nationally.

New offer out on 3 star DB Chris Mitchell from Mission Viejo. Interestingly enough, we're his only offer as of right now despite the fact that Scout has him ranked as the 14th best CB in California and 79th nationally. I'm sure that he will start receiving a bunch of offers soon.

Most of the athletes that we offer get at least some attention from FBS programs to a certain degree. Many FCS programs regularly put out offers on "shoot for the moon" athletes early on in the recruiting year. I hope we can land a couple of these guys, I just wouldn't hold your breath.

That being said, Hawkins has an infectious personality and I think he will really be able to sell what he's trying to build here. Let's aim for a winning season sooner rather than later.

I'm not saying that we should sell ourselves short, but we as fans should have realistic expectations about the motives of these athletes. Athletes want to win games, championships, ect. and we currently don't have that reputation. Like I said, academics will help us with some athletes but Hawkins will really need to step up the success of the program before we consistently land recruits like the ones that we are putting out offers on right now. I do hope we can steal a couple of these guys.

The academic reputation of Davis definitely helps in landing some athletes, but a lot of these guys are looking to go to a big name programs. I mean, some of these guys that we put offers out on won't even consider us in our current state. Hopefully Hawkins can turn us into a power FCS program, but even that won't happen immediately.

Another new offer out this evening on OL Jake Parks out of San Juan Capistrano. Similarly to most of the recruits we're putting offers out on right now, he's already receiving interest from FBS programs.

New offer out on 3 star safety Quinn Brinnon from Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland. Seems like a lot of the athletes we're putting out these early offers out on are on guys that are receiving a ton of interest from bigger programs. Not likely that we land them, but you have to appreciate the attempts from the coaching staff.

New offer out on WR Justin Kraft out of Rocklin. Had over 1,000 yards receiving last season, we're his first offer.

New offer out on OL Nico Sarale out of Oakdale High School. Not the biggest guy, some reports say he could make the switch to DE in college. Being smaller though, he has a ton of burst of the line.

I haven't seen anything from Davis, but Brock announced back in Feb that he transferred here. I missed it back then too.

Well, this is a big opportunity for someone to step up big time. We have some guys returning like Justin Williams and Mitchell Layton (unless they're not coming back either and we just haven't heard yet) but we also have talent coming in as freshman and transfers. Namane Modise could be a name to watch.

Wait, really? I thought I still saw him on the roster. That would really hurt if he did leave.

I looked back at his tape too. Before he wore #3 at Long Beach City College, he wore #15 for Sacred Heart. Keelan Doss is currently wearing #3 so I think #15 could be Maier... maybe.

The roster is showing that #12 is Brock Dale and that #15 is unassigned. Is Jake Maier on campus already? He might be the mystery #15 cause if I remember correctly he looked like a real gunslinger from his tape.
