• Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
Lawrence was supposed to be good last season too and the defense shut him down for the most part. They lost their top receivers from last season and by far their best defender. They beat up a bad D2 team in their first game so tough to tell where they are. On the other hand we beat a bottom feeder FBS team which is equivalent to at least an above average FCS team. I feel that the Aggies feed off of the SJSU game and make a statement.

    1 more day to go!

I'm going to say the Aggies win this one 41-21

Another week of game notes another week of looking at the UC Davis ORs

I was going to say that a username over there seemed a little too familiar to be a coincidence!

Gould was known as a recruiter at Cal, so I'm not surprised he was able to bring in talent. It was just painfully obvious that he didn't belong as a head coach at the D1 level. He tried to force a gameplan that wasn't going to work with our personnel. Hawkins walked in and said, "we have a team that can be successful throwing the ball" and while we didn't get a winning season, we were much more competitive and exciting to watch.

Interesting, I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

    Awesome commitment!
  • 2019 Recruiting List
Yeah I haven't been able to find it either.
  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
I found one, but it's a ghost town.
  • Ulonzo Gilliam named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week
Just looked up the article. Awesome for Gilliam that he has really hit the ground running (pun 100% intended), but I can't believe that Maier didn't even get an honorable mention for offensive player of the week after dropping 400+ on an FBS team.

USD is good enough that we might not get 2nd stringers in the game. I'm right there with you though. If we are controlling the game late, it would be nice to rotate guys in. That being said, we really REALLY can't get ahead of ourselves on this. Gotta show up first.
  • Week 1: Big Sky
That's brutal, never like seeing this guys getting injured to that extent... even on a rival team. Best of luck to him. As long as you guys can keep Joe P healthy, you will be a threat in Big Sky play.
  • Week 1: Big Sky
    Any word on Jenkins?
  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
San Diego beat Division 2 Western New Mexico 38-9 in their first game of the season. Western New Mexico finished 4-7 last season which included a loss to San Diego as well.

Anthony Lawrence tossed for 254 yards and 3 TDs and the team added, by committee, 167 rushing yards. Lawrence's big target was Michael Bandy who hauled in 8 passes for 111 yards and 2 TDs (50 of those 111 came on 1 completion). USD's defense still allowed 300 yards of offense to a below average D2 school.
  • Week 1: Big Sky
Updated. Now time to get ready for week 2!
  • Week 2: San Diego @ UC Davis
True. Portland State kept it relatively close against BYU and almost won versus Oregon State. Of course BYU finished 4-9 and Oregon State 1-11.
  • Week 1: Big Sky
Cal Poly getting brutalized 3-42 in 3rd quarter

Northern Colorado still down 17-0 in 3rd quarter

Eastern Washington up 34-13 at halftime
  • Week 1: Big Sky
Cal Poly down 28-3 in the 2nd quarter

Northern Colorado down 17-0 in the 2nd quarter

Eastern Washington up 20-7 in the 2nd quarter

Don't get me wrong, I'm not insinuating that this will be an easy game by any margin. They return veterans at QB, RB, and OL but they lost their starters at WR. They also lost Jonathan Petersen, the FCS all time leader in sacks, at DL which should hurt their pass rush immensely. It will be a battle, but I think we can start this season 2-0.
