Hahaha, I don't think that is likely. We play both Montana and Eastern Washington on the road. I'm not counting us out for any of the games left on the schedule though. I think that this team can compete with the best of them.

Apparently we have new grey alternate jerseys. I doubt we'll wear them at Stanford, but maybe we'll see them in action against Idaho. They aren't our traditional blue, but I'm not gonna lie... they are pretty slick.

Just announced that Bryce Love will NOT play this weekend. That helps us out.

Interesting. Looks like they are running a 3-4 defense. That's what SJSU did and Maier looked really comfortable against it. That being said, Stanford's d-line is a lot better than san jose's.

Oh for sure. There are a lot of factors that go into these polls and it is still very early in the season, but I have not been impressed with what I've seen from Weber so far. Maybe they'll prove me wrong. I think the other 4 teams are probably appropriately place at this point. I might even put NAU a little higher. FBS win and a very close loss (with their starting QB going down) to EWU.

I'm surprised they have Weber so high. They got DESTROYED by an FBS team and barely beat Cal Poly, who might be improved but still has a lot to prove.

Being totally realistic, we likely lose this game... and badly, but it won't stop me from cheering the boys on like crazy. Offensive line needs to give Maier a little bit more protection and we can't have mental lapses in the defense like we did in the 3rd quarter. There is always an off chance of winning, but Stanford is a dang good team.

I will always remain hopeful, but next week is almost assuredly a loss. Big difference is that UCD and USD are both FCS ranked anywhere from the mid 20's to mid 30's. Stanford is well... Stanford.

Ahh that answers my question about Doss. Tough to see all of the coverages on tv especially when there aren't a ton of replays.

My observations

- Big improvement in the defense from SJSU. USD is supposed to be talented offensively, but the defense completely shut them down outside of that bad stretch in the 3rd quarter. Rebounded nicely by getting 2 huge interceptions.

- While Ulonzo Gilliam didn't put up huge numbers in term of yards, he still put up 3 TDs which is tough to argue with. Thomas looked very good in limited snaps. I would maybe like to see a more balance number of snaps between them.

- Maier looked really uncomfortable tonight. USD was applying pressure, but Jake was overthrowing/underthrowing receivers tonight like I haven't seen him do before. We need to clean up the passing game going forward. I remember a couple drops that definitely should have been catches.

- What's up with not going to Doss? Tough to tell when watching on tv but was the coverage on him that spectacular? Doss is the bread and butter of our offense and I'm surprised we didn't try to get it to him more considering the offense didn't look fantastic in the first half.

- I'll take the big win over a team that was in the playoffs the last couple seasons, but this game showed we have some things to clean up before we hit big sky competition. Stanford up next and then Idaho. I still think we have a decent chance to start 3-1.

Even BIGGER statement win than what I predicted! Rough 3rd quarter, but overall dominating win over a playoff team from last year.

Aggies go into halftime up 20-0. Both team's offenses look kinda off from what I expected. The Aggie defense (and some convenient penalties) have been really nice though.
