We came up more than just short, Dan. This was a thorough trouncing. There's a lot to fix after watching the last 2 weeks. Eastern and Sac are very good teams this season, but we weren't super competitive in either.

I agree with you on the quarterback situation for the remainder of this season if we happen to make the playoffs. I understand why HR got pulled. His performance against ISU was abysmal and it wasn't much better against UNC despite the win in that game. The Hastings experiment hasn't gone well though. Like you said, I don't want to just sit here and bad mouth a kid, but his stat line over the last 4 games was 92/142 (64.8%) 814 yards (203.5 yards per game) 5 touchdowns (1.25 touchdowns per game) 4 interceptions (1 interception per game) and -24 rushing yards (he took more sacks than his extremely limited rushing yards). 200 passing yards per game just won't cut it when you don't have a run game or personal mobility. I think HR has a better skill set even if he isn't performing super well either. I think in the long run Dan has to find a quarterback who isn't yet on the roster. We can't have this kind of circus next season.

I mean, imagine this quarterback carousel happened at a school in the power 5. The media, fans, and donors would be looking for heads to roll. Our staff is sheltered by the fact that we're FCS with very little media pressure.

I wonder if Dan is going to face any tough questions after the last 2 games? I know we don't really have a lot of media covering the team, but he should be getting some fire given the results and their implications on the season.

They've had an amazing turnaround from the beginning of the season. They started with an uninspired win against Dixie State who are looking at a 1 win season followed by a not particularly close loss to UNI who have gone 6-5. They just really figured something out and didn't slow down.

Also it has to be said that Sac State was flat out the better team. Taylor coached better. The team wanted it more. They displayed the attitude you have to have to be winners. They could absolutely be dangerous in the playoffs. Congrats to them as they clearly deserved the W.

2. Cody Hawkins should not be offensive coordinator.
3. I know he's a freshman, but Hastings just doesn't seem like the guy to me. You can't lead 1 TD drive over the course of 2 very important games and expect to win. I don't know if Rodrigues or TT are the answer either.
4. Defense allowed close to 1100 yards of offense over the last 2 games.

Gotcha gotcha. I'm hoping that some good will come from this game though. I hope Dan does a full and accurate evaluation of the entire staff, Cody included. Additionally, I hope Dan starts looking for a quarterback ASAP in the offseason.

I think that's an understatement. We apparently don't have a quarterback on the roster who has a complete skill set at this point in time and it's looking like Cody might not have the play calling chops to dissect good teams.

I wish my gut had been wrong leading to this game, but there were just zero good omens heading into this one. The offense is bad... like really bad and the defense is being exposed against good offenses. We hadn't played an offense I felt was actually good until the Eastern game and we all saw how that went and we're getting bent over today. Like I said in my last post, Dan has a lot of questions to answer because lets be frank we don't deserve a playoff spot and even if we get one it will most likely be a first round loss.

I hope some of your optimism rubs off on the team during halftime and they can at least make this look respectable.

Dan has SO many questions to answer. Why have we looked increasingly unprepared for games as the season progressed? Why do we not have a single quarterback on the roster that can play a complete game? What happened to the team that got a FBS win this season? Why isn't the defense able to get any kind of pressure on opposing quarterbacks? Why is the tackling so poor? Why does the team hardly look like they care in probably the biggest Causeway in decades? Are we going to get an honest evaluation of what Cody has done this season?
