2 new offers of TEs! GO AGS!

  • Baldwin out at Cal Poly
With that little turn around, that's my guess.
  • 2023 Football Recruiting
I thought we had a pretty good chance of getting him before the Pac 12 PWOs started coming in. This kid is good.

  • 2023 Football Recruiting
We got ANOTHER OL commitment! This time it is Ty Mazakas out of Newport Coast. I'm not entirely sure if this is a PWO commit or not, but it looks like we were really the only team in on him.

  • Idaho State Disaster
I agree that Ragle's comments were pretty inappropriate at the end of the season, but I was more commenting on the state of ISU's program in general... looking at their last 4 HC's overall records

    John Zamberlin (2007–2010) 6-39 (.133)
    Mike Kramer (2011–2016) 18-50 (.265)
    Rob Phenicie (2017–2021) 16-35 (.314)
    Charlie Ragle (2022) 1-10 (.091)

Over the course of these 4 coaches, obviously 0 conference championships and 0 playoff appearances. That is just absolutely insane to me. I think situations like Troy Taylor at Sac and Jason Eck at Idaho are on the rarer side of taking a team and immediately finding success. At the FCS level it sometimes takes a season or 2 to really start gelling and having a coach that lasts 1 season doesn't help the overall outlook of the program.
  • SI Suggests Troy Taylor for Stanford
I would think he would take that job in a heartbeat if offered
  • What Will It Take to Keep Pace with the Success of Sac State Now?
I would keep an eye on Stanford players. David Shaw just announced he's stepping down as head coach. Are we likely to snag some guys? No, but there might be some local depth players leaving the program with Shaw leaving.
  • What Will It Take to Keep Pace with the Success of Sac State Now?
Probably referencing Crump (SJSU transfer) and Kraut (Arizona transfer). Crump just hasn't performed at the collegiate levels and will be a senior next season so I'm a little bit skeptical there, but Kraut was just a freshman so there is at least potential. I do agree with Finn though that we have to infuse some talent at receiver. We have plenty of guys who are decent, but no one who is a true top tier threat.
  • 2023 Week 1: UC Davis @ Texas A&M Commerce
lol for what it's worth with this season's rosters Massey would have given the Aggies a 92% chance of winning... we'll see how things change going forward.
  • 2022 FCS Playoffs
Oh yeah, I wasn't insinuating that they'll be easy or anything (although I do think that we should be able to win this game). I agree that they are likely pushing to go FBS ASAP
  • 2022 FCS Playoffs
They just fired their head coach today
  • Big Sky Honors
Rex is a freaking stud. I worry about a FBS program trying to snipe him from us.
  • What Will It Take to Keep Pace with the Success of Sac State Now?
I had the same thought in terms of Gale. Move him to wideout and get him the ball. He's slim for a TE and he can footrace DBs.
  • What Will It Take to Keep Pace with the Success of Sac State Now?
Unfortunately, I just don't think that we will really ever have a consistent fanbase showing up to games. The student population just doesn't seem that interested in sports in general and the locals only show up to the biggest of games even when the team is performing really well. These kids want to play in front of a good crowd and we simply don't offer that on most nights.

I think one thing we have going for us is that I think UC Davis is Dan Hawkins' last rodeo in terms of coaching college football at the division 1 level at least. He's here to stay and I think he can continue to build a positive culture for us. I know recent articles have Troy Taylor saying that he wants to stay at Sac State and that may be true and it may not. What is he supposed to say when asked that "yeah, I'm already packing my bags for an FBS position"? I have to imagine that there are FBS programs doing their due diligence in terms of what they can offer to snag him away from the Hornets.

I think it's also important to note that outside of NDSU pretty much all schools go through periods of highs and lows. Sac State is on a high right now, but who knows what next season holds. Things can change a lot from season to season. Kids transfers, injuries happen, positional coaches leave, etc. etc. I think we're still in a solid position to compete in the region.
