Totally agree with you. I'm not saying that USD can't be dangerous or that this is a guaranteed win, but I do believe that for the sake of our season we need a convincing win. Our next 2 games after this are straight back into the meat grinder so this has to be a statement for us.

Yes the kicking game is absolutely a concern at this point in time. 2 games in and already 2 missed field goals, 1 missed extra point, and 1 blocked extra point. Not good at all.

Man... what a heartbreaker though.

Hastings ended up playing... okay. His INT hurt a lot and he flat out missed more than a few open receivers but at the end of the day he wasn't our only problem. Our run game got completely shut down which isn't super surprising. SDSU has an elite front 7 and they were ready to stand Gilliam up. Death by 1000 cuts on offense.

Defense played admirably. I don't think you can really ask for a whole lot more from them as a unit.

They had a close one. I don't know if it actually hit the upright or not.

Missed field goal ended up being costly. Interception in the first half that gave SDSU scoring field position ended up being costly. Having an extra point blocked ended up being costly. Time out management ended up being costly. All in all, a good comeback that fell short against a good team, but we could have really been in it.

Rex Connors had himself one heck of a game though.
