• Week 5: UC Davis @ Montana State
yep that's what I was saying as I watching it. Stared him down from the far hash. Ball spent so much time in the air anyone could have stepped in front of it.

And follow it up with a ******* interception
  • Week 5: UC Davis @ Montana State
And there's the shooting ourselves in the foot
  • Week 5: UC Davis @ Montana State
MSU won the toss and deferred, so they will get the ball to start the 3rd quarter.
  • Week 5: UC Davis @ Montana State
If we can contain Chambers then we got a chance in this one. Good work by the defense!
  • Week 5: UC Davis @ Montana State
Well... that's certainly one way to start a game
  • Week 5: UC Davis @ Montana State
I think it goes without saying that this is a must win for any chance at the post season. In fact, I think we have to win out at this point. Looking at the remainder of the schedule I think we will struggle with Montana State and Sac State, both likely losses in my honest opinion. I think we should be able to perform well against Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Cal Poly, and Idaho State (just ignore our game against them last season). Idaho is much improved now that they don't have a moron at the helm of their program and we're on the road. That's a game that scares me.

All-in-all, tough road to the playoffs but we have to try to make a stand here. No more shooting ourselves in the foot. Frustrating that we COULD be sitting at 3-1 with 2 wins over highly ranked teams, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

New offer out on OL Matthew Staycer out of Torrey Pines! GO AGS!

Interesting we have 3 OL commits and are continuing to add offers

  • Week 5: UC Davis @ Montana State
I remember the 45-0 beatdown we put on them in Bozeman, but our record against them has been bleak since that game. MSU is a very good team and thus far this season, we've not been able to close out games against good teams. We were right there with SDSU and WSU and I hope they can prove me wrong this weekend. I'm just not convinced we have that kill factor.
  • Week 5: Big Sky Schedule and Scores
I currently live in Gainesville and UF has shut down classes Wednesday through Friday. The storm should be by us by Saturday, but travel could definitely be impacted depending on when they are flying in.
  • Week 5: UC Davis @ Montana State
The cats rushing attack is top tier. Having QB Tommy Mellott out didn't slow them down as you mentioned their back up, Chambers, was gashing EWU in the run game. As far as I can tell it's unknown if Mellott will be back this week, but either way we have to be prepared for their QBs running all over the place.

Maybe I'm still agitated after the loss to Weber, but I don't think the Aggies pull this one off on the road. Both Montana schools are tough places to play.
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
Maybe in seasons past I would have also been heartened by a loss like this. I'm starting to lose patience at not being able to close out these games though. If we want to be a top dog, then we have to actually beat some of these top dogs and right now we're shooting ourselves in the feet trying to do it.
  • Tim Plough
Welcome to the board! I have a hard time seeing Dan letting Cody go at this point. I don't want to say it's straight up nepotism, but since joining the staff Cody has received a promotion every single season and is now up to OC. I think Cody would have to royally screw something up for Dan to even consider firing him.

I greatly miss Plough's up tempo offense even if there were still playing calling decisions I didn't agree with. Cody's offense is slow and too dependent on Gilliam bailing the rest of the offense out. That clock is ticking.
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
"We're a deeper team that may go .500 w average QB play the next few years."

Our defense is playing at a playoff level right now. We're allowing just over 20 points per game against the 2 ranked FCS teams we've played. In those 2 games we are winning the turnover battle 6-1 (2 INTs and a fumble recovery against SDSU, 1 INT and 2 fumble recoveries against Weber, 1 pick thrown against SDSU).

Miles Hastings is a sophomore, there is simply no way in my mind that we can't upgrade at the position. If we roll with him for another 2-3 seasons I think we see some of the stars on defense transfer out of the program. The offense (outside of UG who is done after this season) including the kicking game is massively letting the rest of the team down. This includes the offensive coaching staff.
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
The only thing I will really give Hastings credit for is that he's managed to keep a clean sheet in terms of interceptions over the last 2 games. You're not going to win a lot of games when you only have 6.6 yards per completion and 4.5 yards per attempt. Hastings is simply too limited in his skill set to take this team to the playoffs.
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
I'm getting tired of trying to make stipulations for the team in justifying their performance. Oh we're playing a FBS team this week. Oh we're playing a ranked team this week. But I'm done giving them the benefit of the doubt there. Why? Because we're going to be playing ranked teams consistently in this conference year in and year out and you know what? The conference is only getting stronger. Weber seems to always have an elite defense. Montana, Montana State, and Sac State are all looking like top 10 maybe even all of them in the top 5. Idaho is already looking much improved with a new head coach.

I don't know where my rambling is going at this point. I guess my point is where is the direction on offense man especially consider we lose Gilliam for sure after this season. Shoot, if he had actually ended up transferring this season we'd really be up a creek without a paddle. I will give kuddos to the offensive line who held up well even with injuries against a very good defense.
