This sounds like a bad idea, and I would be surprised if Blue were considering it at all. Would be nice to have all the sports under one conference roof, but let's wait until the MWC kicks SJSU out and we can slide in there...

I guess it's fine for dorks like us to focus on the polls and look ahead to EWU. I do get worried that 29 & 20 year old kids are doing the same and starting to believe their own hype. Nick Saban is right, that stuff is rat poison. I'm sure Hawkins is all over it, but there is a downside to all this good press.

The fact that we have over 6 wins for the first time since 2002 (FYI - Star Wars II, Attack of the Clones, premiered that year, for context) is big time. The fact that we have a legit shot at the playoffs is enormous, and the fact that this team could potentially finish the season ranked #2 or #3 in the country is astounding. But again, one week at a time...

Well that's encouraging. I'm still in "one week at a time" mode, however. I'd like for the team to get back to "starting fast." Although it's been exciting the last 3 weeks, falling behind early and then relying on your guys to rally back is a dangerous way to play. Let's get back to an early huge lead ala against Northern Colorado.

Forgive my ignorance as it has never been an issue before now, but how does the coaches poll (and these other polls) affect playoff seeding? On the one hand, I don't really care about these polls because the team has 3 games remaining against teams that they could lose to. They have to win each week of course. But on the other hand, seeding for he playoffs really matters and if the playoff committee is influenced by the coaches poll, which seems to be off, that's potentially a problem.

Yup - someone needs to tell the equipment guys that every time a former player sees a helmet on the ground, an angel loses its wings.

Our guys will be fine, Hawk will see to that. But I will say that, although I haven't been in Autzen, Qualcomm or Wyoming, i have played in Montana's stadium and it's no joke. Those fans feel like they're right on top of you. And they throw Ju Ju Bees at your helmet and heckle you for not being in the game. I mean, that's what I heard...

Missoula is incredibly beautiful. A River Runs Through It was filmed there (I think). But the Griz are the only game in town, and they have a devoted following. It's tough to get people excited about even professional sports around here unless they're perennially competing for championships. Then we jump aboard the band wagon.

I love Hawk, love this team, love the national press, but I am nervous for this game. As awesome as the Hawktoberfest surprise was, Idaho State was in control of that game until the 4th quarter, and we barely made it back. Last week the first three possessions were disconcerting until we got the ball rolling. Not sure why Montana has lost 2 in a row, but they are going to come out swinging hard, and we better not start slow like we have the last 2 games. I believe the Ags win, but this is going to be close I suspect.

They have lost 2, need to win out to go to playoffs, and its in as hostile an environment as you'll find in FCS outside of Fargo. This is the biggest test of the season. What it's all about!

FWIW that speech was similar in style and tone to Biggs' speeches. You don't have to shout and swear a lot to motivate a group of highly intelligent self-motivated young men. What you do say, however, has to resonate.

Well after the first 45 minutes of the game, I was genuinely surprised at the result. I think ISU was as well.
