  • Help Needed to Give the Great ISU Win a Commerative Name
@DrMike, it was Brewfest, we have the Hawk, and it was fairly miraculous. I like the Hawktobertest miracle.

I guess "Wide Right" is already taken by Florida State...
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
slo has the ocean; so not exactly
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
    Well, there’s a little mud.
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
I'd never throw mud at Cal Poly, particularly after our forgotten years during the Gould era. Both schools tend to attract very similar students. Poly was always my favorite rivalry game when I played - good hard fought games, with mutual respect. Sac State on the other hand... jerk players and a weird student body. I'm sure you'll be back very soon.
  • Week 7: Homecoming vs. Idaho State
@Kerberos well said; totally agree with your post.
  • Aggie Field Trip to Folsom Prison...
No kidding - I read the title and thought the party was over! Please change title to “Aggies VISIT prison.” Some of our members are elderly - don’t want to cause any cardiac issues.
  • Week 7: Homecoming vs. Idaho State
Great to see student section (relatively) full until the end. A gut check win like that might convince students to keep coming back.
  • FIRST IN BIG SKY
    Aggie Pride is back!
  • Despair across the Causeway
@69aggie I totally agree. Those threads make me sad, actually. I had beeen looking forward to several years of Sac and UCD both being competitive. Sounds like there are real problems over there.
  • ESPN - Bad Beats
@zytheCorrection - the final score was bad, but that was not a bad game. Building a 49-10 lead with 9 minutes to go is good. We let them get too close in the end, but that was a good game.
  • ESPN - Bad Beats
It's not great to be featured on Bad Beats, but I am really not bothered at all. I would prefer to have a coach who gives his reserves an opportunity for significant game time and calls off the dogs when we are up 49-10, rather than keep the first team in and run the score up to 70-10. A lot of coaches in the Big Sky do that. Hawkins put the first team back in when it started getting too close for comfort. We're good.
  • Bob Dunning: It's Time for the Aggies to Move Up to FBS
@DrMike, I think the only conference that makes sense for the Ags is MWC (imagine annual regional rivalries with Fresno and Reno). But when I say "makes sense" I acknowledge the incredible amount of money, competitive success, and fan support it would require to move up. We are 3 wins out of 4 games into this season, so I grant that some of us and Bob Dunning are getting ahead of ourselves. It's just been so long since I've been this optimistic about the program that I am allowing myself to get carried away.
  • Bob Dunning: It's Time for the Aggies to Move Up to FBS
I think the most realistic path to moving up is (a) UCD goes on an extreme (read NDSU/EWU) run of success with Hawkins over the next 3-5 years, garnering fan/administrative support and media attention; and (b) an existing member of one of the conferences drops out or is booted (read SJSU). That's our route in, and it's not entirely unlikely. But moving up is several steps away (though it is fun to dream big).

PS I think getting into the PAC (whatever number) would require demonstrated success in another FBS conference for many years. Even then, what would be their incentive to add us?
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Stanford
    Forget 2014. How about 2005 (mid-transition to FCS)? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nnY_ksDxh8
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Stanford
First, I love the reversion to the old CA logo that used to be on the baseball caps.

Second, @DrMike, according to this site http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=401012747, we have a 1.2% chance. That's better odds than Lloyd Christmas had with Mary Swanson.
  • RIP Jason Hairston
This is a huge loss in many ways. Jason was one of the older players when I arrived in camp, and he was one of the most athletic and intense players I've ever been around. I even had my shoulder separated by Jason while on the scout team - he could bring the wood. His business successes were truly astounding and I enjoyed keeping up on him. Thoughts and prayers for his family.
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ San Jose State
    This article is unkind https://www.rgj.com/story/sports/college/nevada/2018/08/31/1-000-words-mountain-west-needs-do-something-san-jose-state/1158736002/

I hope SJSU can turn it around and prove the author wrong. Would love UCD (not UTSA as the author suggests) to get a shot at SJSU's spot in the MWC is it comes available, but we're a few years (and many $$'s as @OldAggie points out) away from being ready. Would hate o miss the timing.
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ San Jose State
The guys over at Hero Sports are high on the Ags... https://herosports.com/fcs/football-uc-davis-defeats-san-jose-state-bzbz

Okay. Enough dancing in the endzone. Time to focus on USD. That has trap game written all over it - a playoff team last year.
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ San Jose State
Pac12 is a nice long-term dream, but MWC would be excellent for a while. Imagine regional rivalries with Fresno St. and UNR. Could finally get the greater Sac area to support the Ags. I have to think a guy like Blue has a plan around this.
