Anyone else catch the Owen Yancher reference re 2 Transfers?

"When Oklahoma head coach Skip Johnson and several players confessed their shared love of fishing, it made the move from Cowtown to the Sooner State even more appealing."
  • Opening Day 2021 - @ Tulsa
The Pittsburgh Steelers survived w three QBs.

Magic will see time either way w his running skills, and I've accepted the fact he'll get dinged up. So we need a minimum of 2, more likely 3 QBs ready to rock. Practice would be where we'd see how QBs 3 through 6 do.

Any feedback on new QB additions Grant Harper (6'2") or Mitchell Dixon (6'4")?

For the record, I posted the item that seemed most measured and in some sense, possible. So we've now debunked much of it several ways.

    Reddit rumors.

    "curmudgeonthefrog 26d
"I heard from someone in the baseball team that the culture was super toxic. Any student who wanted to succeed academically would be discouraged by teammates and coaching staff. So everyone was forced to pick from a few of the easier majors. And even then during athlete study times no one studied. And since baseball season meant frequent away trips it was impossible to study or take exams on the road. Other than that i dont know what else was going on."

I post this because I believe I can largely debunk it. Players majors:

    6 - Managerial Economics
    6 - Communications

    4 - Economics
    3 - Mechanical Engineering
    2 - Undeclared - Physical Sciences
    2 - Computer Science
    2 - Undeclared
    2 - Political Science

    1 -
    Environmental Design
    Viticulture & Enology
    Land. Architecture
    English
    Food Sciences
    Wildlife Biology
    Human Development
    Undeclared - Life Sciences
    Psychology
    Sociology

I actually think it's a pretty impressive list. Maybe a few more Comm majors than normal, but only 1 Sociology major, no ethnic or similiar majors. Managerial Econ a legit major.

We get defensive stud Erron Duncan back. Yuuuge.

Could Martz be a sack man?
  • Bison QB goes #3 to the 49ers
    Update

"“ "I would think if that’s the formula then Lance does get a lot of time. The 49ers would use that third preseason game as the true dress rehearsal for the regular season, against the Raiders at Levi’s Stadium.” says Lombardi, 49ers beat writer.

"It’s a very exciting prospect for fans who have been hearing about Lance’s training camp performances ad nauseam. Lance has been turning heads since last week, leading to rumblings that there is an outside chance he could take Garoppolo’s job before the season starts.

"At that moment, that possibility still seems remote, but impressing in an extended showcase vs. the Chiefs on Saturday could increase those odds."

An earlier article says he made a throw against his body, down field, a throw Garoppolo couldn't make.

I've read G. frequent injuries are an issue.

Retired attorney Lawrence Booher, in reply to a Bob Dunning MBB article:

"Before retirement, I was a labor lawyer for a large company. From time to time we conducted internal investigations of serious matters ... I cannot recall any case that took more than two weeks to resolve - including my review which often lead to additional interviews or documentation. (Note - in cases of potential termination for incompetence, the process was much more lengthy ... ) In most cases, the majority of the work was done in less than a week. One or two people(two is better) conduct interviews of the complainants, those complained against, and possible witnesses. Relevant documentation is copied. My review. Presentation of the findings to management including recommended action. It is not a time consuming process, even if there are several claimed victims, accused, and witnesses. Most HR professionals have carried out investigations many times and know how to do it. On reflection, I cannot conceive what could delay completion of an investigation for four months. Suggestion - make an inquiry in a few weeks and ask how many interviews have already been conducted. If the answer is several, ask what more interviews are needed and what is the delay? If the answer is few, suggest more experienced investigators should be brought in. Good column."

    Corporate America = 2 weeks
    University (government) = 4 - 6 months (politics?)

And the foot dragging continues. A highly regarded retired attorney posted to Bob Dunning's baseball article and stated that an investigation could largely be completed within a few weeks. Incompetence, or purposeful?

This sounds like spin. What 'future' (beyond Europe) does a 6'0" G have who averages 12 PPG?

Looks like the Vikings already had 2 solid guards and then recruited three more D1 proven 6'5" guards after Squires signed. They look solid on paper. If the new HC can create a cohesive team, they could have a 20+ win year.

Speaking of Portland State, it looks like their new coach got a load of Transfers who can play, and have size. And they return 3 starters.

    MARLON RUFFIN - 6'5" G, JR, 13 PPG and 3.4 RPG

MICHAEL CARTER III - 6'5" G, JR - 14.6 PPG at The Beach

    SQUIRES - 6'0" G, JR - 12 PPG and 1.5 APG

    JAMES JEAN-MARIE - 6'8", 235 SR F - averaged 12 / 5 RPG at Hawaii. Fellow Canadian to give Squires company.

    HAYDEN CURTISS - SO, 6'10", limited action. 2 PPG / 2 RPG / 1 BPG

MIKAL STARKS - pass first point guard from Georgia.

EZEKIEL ALLEY - 6'0" SR G - DII transfer which averaged 20 PPG. Interesting jump, good luck to the young man.

That's over 50 PPG, not counting the DII transfer.

I've recommended it to friends. I've never been. Around the same Era as a young, healthy Bill Walton? Has Portland gone too far (to some?), have drugs, 'homelessness', and anarchy gone too far?

Stories like this, the Angels Ohtani, and The Greek Freak are what I love about sports.

If I'm the opposing team (I'm not an expert on our squad now), I go at Anigwe right away. Wear him down, get him in foul trouble. Control the boards and paint.

Disrupt our best wing, and let the Ags try to win via the 3.

    RE - your baseball concerns.

The Aggie Band-a was eliminated on largely trumped up charges.

Physical Education, a hallmark of Davis, was axed - Eliminating a healthy avenue when we have skyrocketing obesity levels, and potentially violating the student funding mechanisms. (I'm guessing the funding goes to some mumbo jumbo causes.)

Your concerns are valid... they didn't add in a little extra legroom at Dobbins?
  • Aggies picked sixth in BigSky
We seem to be stronger and deeper across the board, but two key areas to these non professional eyes are QB & DB. QB has already been discussed.

Length / athleticism at DB seems to be a separation point for the elite teams. EWU, M, MSU send out 6'3" WRs, and pick apart 5'10" DBs. I love Perryman, King, Thomas and Duncan. Duncan, what a beast.

Harlston - 6'3", 205# - RedFrosh - three star recruit, highly coveted. DNP.

Venable - 6'2", 175# - SO - really came on last year. Third on the team in tackles. Split time at safety w Tiger Garcia.

    Horne - 6'3", 190# - RedFrosh - DNP.
