I was also happy to see the Aggie Pack spirit leaders appropriately channeling the Aggie Pack energy. For example, hyping up the noise when the Ags are trying to stop USD on 3rd downs. Also, keeping them quieter when we are trying to convert on 3rd down when we are on offense so our guys hear the QB

Ugh. And THAT'S the kind of BS that rubs me the wrong way. :rage:

Happy to share my thoughts. Simply put, I just error on the side of caution. On the road I always mind my manners and don't do things that will set people off, but I also avoid the areas where even polite support for the away team is unwelcome.

Like many, I have been to Idaho. Many Idahoans hold a real distaste for all things California. And it's kinda ugly. Some folks are great . . . but many others will tell you to your face what they think of YOU and our state. I had a lady (who looked like your average suburban soccer-mom) aggressively cuss me out as I got out of my car at Albertson's because of my California plates. No provocation at all, just called us names and directed us to go back to our "s**thole of a state and die." :yikes: "DIE"! Seriously crazy.

We've all seen way too many videos of bad behavior by fans in the stands. I just politely support my team and move on. I'm never looking for a fight. And certainly not one where I am horribly outnumbered.

Enjoy your games! That's a nice sports-travel itinerary, for sure.

Thanks for your rundown. I’ve always viewed gameday etiquette - when my team is the visitor - as an easy task. And one of the elements is never sit in the premium hometeam section. But hey…maybe thats just me. I want to watch and support my team with no potential confrontations with opposing fans.

The USD fan was a woman with a small novelty cowbell. They originally sat elsewhere so it may have been a case of not knowing the sections/rows/seats, etc. And, from my vantage point, she made a point to make a racket when USD had the ball (so bad form, at least - quiet on offense, loud on defense). I had USD alums near me who were fantastic. Of course, they had virtually zero reason to cheer/gloat, etc.
  • MBB Off-season 2022
Preach. Yep . . . I'd love to hear about who is WITH us, rather than who is leaving.

How this (the exodus) isn't deserving of an article in the Davis Enterprise is a mystery.

"Just doesn’t make much sense from an outsiders perspective." Exactly.

Per, https://www.instagram.com/p/Ccx5p_ir7Tc/ Murphy is going to Northwest Nazarene University (in Nampa, ID - just outside of Boise). I believe a close relative is already on the team. Interestingly, this was the first landing spot for Delveion Jackson when he left UC Davis a few years ago.

I really try hard not to critique these young men and women as they navigate the TP for a "better spot", but this one is a serious head-scratcher. I mean, I sincerely wish them well . . . but I definitely struggle to understand some of these moves.

  • 2022 Football Recruiting
Very good point. Cheers. How ever this plays out, I still have immense confidence in Hawk and his staff to have a productive recruiting cycle - early, traditional, late . . . ultimately, I just want to win. GO AGS!!!

Agree with all the comments about this years NLI day being "odd". I suspect that our (RS) Fr. and Soph. rolls are pretty full so we are probably targeting the JUCO ranks and the portal. And I don't mind. This is just the "early" day so there is still plenty of opportunity to fill in our needs.

Getting seasoned players may be a better tactic for the next 1-2 campaigns. Just a thought . . .
  • Gilliam is in the portal
I think DrMike hit it on the nose above. The extra COVID year of eligibility appears to be impacting portal entry across both the FCS and FBS ranks. Players are graduating but, primed with available eligibility, are looking at vaulting to a new school as part of a graduate degree pursuit. I would think that institutions like UC Davis (top tier academic schools) will pay a steep price given this phenomenon; ie. schools where acceptance to their graduate programs is very competitive.

Is anyone else encountering a “dead link” on the stream? I cant get it to launch. Any help is, of course, greatly appreciated. GO AGS!!!

"the Donkeys" OMG! LOL!!! Nicely done.
  • 2021 Roster posted
Really bummed to hear about Babb not being on the roster. Fast, tough, slippery, capable hands and rarely went down without a serious fight for additional yards. Oh well. As the saying goes, "next man up!"
  • Bee article on the transfer portal
Thanks for sharing. Coach Hawk, I believe, makes some good points. I hate losing people to the portal but . . . there are a mountain of sound reasons why an athlete may want to (or need to?) leave.

Some of the circumstances regarding their departures are frustrating for us fans - ie. the coaches have clearly nurtured and developed you until you feel you are too big for the environment. I find that frustrating. But . . . some student-athletes are disillusioned with the coaches, or not happy in Davis, or the academics are simply too tall an order, or there are family issues, etc. Those, I understand, for sure.
  • RIP Rick Mohr
Thank for passing this along. Sorry to hear this. Watched Rick play at Toomey and he was a total stud. RIP, and Always an Aggie.
