I'm fine with that first quarter. It's tied. Defense overall played wall and the offense at least showed the ability to move the ball. We can play with them. Just need to execute a bit better on offense.

Any time you can add a team to your FBS conference that has made four playoff appearances in 31 FCS seasons - with three of those being with one coach who is no longer there and the fourth being the year after he left - you just have to do it.

-another win over a highly ranked team which could help us over one of the MVFC teams if we finish 11-1 or 10-2
-or if we go 9-3, that H2H win could be the tiebreaker for us over a 9-3 Idaho team if it comes down to us and them for the 8 seed.

I don't want to say that Portland State is even a decent, but in terms of quality there seems to be a big difference in quality between them and a team like Northern Colorado. Close against us, close against Idaho. We still should have beat them by more, but they're not awful.

Indiana is an interesting case. They haven't played anyone good yet - though they'll get their shot in 2 weeks against Ohio St - but to their credit they've been putting it on teams.

FWIW, only EWU and Northern Colorado have played all three of UCD, Mont St, Mont this year.

We'd likely move behind Montana, unless we lost a very close game by a FG or so. But how far depends on the margin of loss. Lose by 30 and we'll move down a few spots. Lose by 3 and maybe they jump Montana to 4 and move us to 5. As you pointed out, South Dakota didn't drop after they lost at South Dakota St by 3 in OT.
