I don't like calling a timeout there. I know you want the ball back but it's only 3rd and 3. Let them run the clock to the 2 minute warning and call it after that if you get a stop. Those 26 seconds likely aren't killing you.
It seems counterintuitive but I wonder if no Lan makes it a bit harder for the SD defense in the short term. You've spent all week focusing on containing Lan and all these plays UCD runs for him and now he's out and they're running a whole different set of plays.
Yep, this is huge right here. Even if we can hold them to 3, you get a chance to make it a 3 point game coming out of the half. But stopping them altogether would be huge.
It's a good thing this is a defensive football game OH WAIT South Dakota is on pace to score 42 points today.
No offense, but you're just wrong. NFL teams go for it there and I'm pretty sure they know more about football than you and I do. This isn't a 2010 SEC game or some bad weather game like Rams-Niners on Thursday where it's going to end up 13-10 and points are at a premium. We need touchdowns today.
Again, FG's aren't winning this game. And you have to play to your strengths. We've got one of the best offenses in the FCS and it's four yards. Kicking a FG there says "I'm trying to keep the game close" rather than "I want to win the game".
Not sure what else Hastings could have done on that. Has to get out of the pocket to throw it away or else its intentional grounding. And you want him to safely throw it away not just chuck it up to be intercepted. Blocking let him down on that play.
Not watching but based on how the scoring has gone it reminds me of our game last week. 1st quarter was close but once the better team got rolling, it was a wrap.
