• Slack State Tennis Teams placed on NCAA probation
Sounds like the guy Campbell, who owned the tennis clubs, just ran it like a pro tennis team! Clearly not enough supervision when you have an off campus coach with money basically just doing whatever he wants.
  • Slack State Tennis Teams placed on NCAA probation
Wow, sounds like the tennis program was totally out of control. I always wondered how they got all of the foreign players to come to Sac State.
  • New woman’s sport
Any idea where they will build the volleyball courts? Hopefully they do a nice job and build stands and have a scoreboard.
  • New woman’s sport
I get beach volleyball, it's cheap you just need to dig some sand pits. The general student body would probably have fun playing on them as well. The equestrian team seems kind of strange, a really small number of schools compete and I just can't see this being a growth sport. i guess it does make sense since UCD has equine expertise, but overall just seems like a strange one. Do lots of kids in California even participate in this sport or will they have to bring in out of state kids?
  • Practice field is going in...
Very nice facility, just another reminder that continued facility development is critical to stay competitive
  • New woman’s sport
Agreed, Boys in the Boat is a great read!!!
  • New woman’s sport
I'm betting that rowing will be the sport chosen, just seems like they already have the facilities and it is a sport that could support a large roster.
  • LaRue Softball upgrades begin!
Nice to see improvements. Hopefully they finish off the locker room and make it look first class. These improvements should help recruiting!!
  • Improving the program
Endowing scholarships and/or coaching positions is definitely important moving forward. Men's water polo endowed the head coaching position recently, the first endowment in UCD athletics.
  • TJ Shorts II is BW Player of the Year
TJ has stepped up big time with Chima gone!!
  • Congrats to Coaches of the Year!
Pretty amazing to have both coaches honored! Hopefully we can keep them! I'm sure that they will garner some interest from other teams after this season
  • Men's & Women's BB Coaches Show Tuesday 5:30-6:30 pm
Great for them to get out in the community! Hope they keep doing these type of events!
  • Would Tougher Non-Conference Schedules Be Better for MBB & WBB?
i would love to see USF and Santa Clara added, especially if we could get one home /one away deal over 2 years or at least 2 away/one home games over 3 years. It would be great for Bay Area alums to be able to see some games and I think USF/Santa Clara would draw well in Davis.

Given the one bid the Big West gets, i would be in favor of a gradual increase in schedule toughness. I don't think it makes a ton of sense to play too many top 25 teams, but I would like to see more teams in the 26-75 RPI range added.
  • New woman’s sport
Any more news on this? When will a decision be made?
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
The whole thing is sad...but clearly he must have done something relatively serious. Coach Les was quick to suspend him. Hopefully it wasn't criminal and he can move on with his life. It would be great if the whole thing can be cleared up or at least explained so that the program and player can move on. As fans, all we can do is cheer for the guys we have and celebrate the coaching job Les is doing and the fight/tenacity the players are demonstrating. The Chima incident has made one thing clear, we actually have a basketball PROGRAM! What other team loses their all league star and rips off a bunch of wins!
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
UCSB's coach could be in trouble down the road as well. They have emails from when he was an Arizona assistant that may tie him into the Sean Miller recruit payoff deal.
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
It's time for some comment from the AD!! Is he done or is there still a chance that he could be eligible this season?
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
I understand the idea of treating him like a regular student...BUT he is a high profile basketball player, from a PR standpoint the University needs to make a statement. They don't necessarily need to treat him differently but they should provide some statement on where they are in the process, potential timeline, etc.
  • New Aquatics Building
Yes, they will definitely be moving their offices out of Hickey.
  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: Aggies (16-9 & 7-4) @ Cal Poly (8-17 & 3-8)
Great win! This team is definitely showing some grit and determination!!
