  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: Aggies (16-9 & 7-4) @ Cal Poly (8-17 & 3-8)
We need some guys to step up, with the Moneke situation still up in the air, they need to play with who they have. Hopefully Mooney can keep adding some scoring, we need every player to add a bit more going forward.
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
Still no word on Chima? It is beyond bizarre that they haven't said anything at this point, you would have to think that the investigation would be over by now.
  • How many days until the roster is up ?
Parking is tough, easy walk from BART. Average stadium, urban feel, surrounded by Haas Pavilion, RSF, track stadium, etc. Above average atmosphere, lively crowd. Fun place to watch a game.
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
This is really strange, you would think that they could at least say something at this point..."there is an ongoing investigation, blah, blah".
  • UCSB @ UC Davis preview by Gauchofreg and BlueGoldAg
Yes, good energy and atmosphere last night from the crowd. The students should be out there and cheering/having fun like that every home game, at least for the Big West games. Hopefully enough of them had a good time, despite the rare home loss to come out again.
  • Fuel Stations
This feed kind of got sidetracked on the parking issue.

Back to my original question, I was just wondering if UCD has set up an athlete "fuel station"? Many schools are doing this. It's a relatively cheap and would benefit the athletes. It is a good recruiting tool as well.
  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: CSUN (5-14 & 2-3) @ the Aggies (12-7 & 3-2)
They need to do something, drawing barely 1,000 for a team that has a good overall record and has a long home winning streak is just crazy. In terms of the Big West, the Aggies should be at or near the top in attendance due to the win streak and being a residential campus.

I do agree marketing is lacking. If anything they should be cranking up the ad spend, they have a good team and should be harnessing the opportunity. I'm really concerned, if they are drawing so poorly in a good year, what would the attendance be if they were 6-15?

Maybe the AD and or coach Les should hit all of the fraternities/sororities/clubs and personally encourage them to come to the games. How about giving out some free tickets to schools in Davis/Woodland/Dixon. Then you could pass out $7/off coupons at the end of the game so that people would have an incentive to come back to another game.

Clearly the food deal brought more students out, maybe they should do that a couple more times.

Whatever they are doing is clearly not working, I think having a dynamic student section is key to creating the atmosphere in the gym. That will definitely help get the general fans to come out.

The other factor to me is recruiting, to land higher quality recruits you need to have a better atmosphere. UCD should be like UCSB in the 80's-90's when the Thunderdome was rocking. The opportunity is there to be THE program in the Big West. The team is doing its part, now the athletic department and fans have to come out and make it happen.
  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: CSUN (5-14 & 2-3) @ the Aggies (12-7 & 3-2)
Yes awful attendance last night, I wouldn't be surprised if the real number was 800 or so. If you read about this home win streak, you would assume it's because of packed crowds and a hostile environment. It's truly amazing that they keep winning at home with negligible home support!

I brought a couple of friends to the game last night, they aren't huge sports fans. They thought the $14 for GA tickets was a bit high. Do you think more folks would show up if the tickets were a bit cheaper? I'm not sure how much prices affect attendance. For example, if the game was free do you think it would be full?
  • New woman’s sport
Yes, Cal rugby has significant donor support which has prevented them from being cut as a Varsity sport in the past. I suppose the Aggies could add varsity womens rugby, while there are no varsity opponents on the west coast there are plenty of club opponents. Cal varsity mens rugby is one of the few varsity programs around, so their schedule is made up mostly of club programs at other colleges. Rugby could have a big roster which would help with Title 9 issues. Probably makes sense to consider adding a team.
  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: CSUN (5-14 & 2-3) @ the Aggies (12-7 & 3-2)
Definitely a winnable game, but need to get some solid outside shooting. Hopefully a good crowd tonight as well
  • Interesting Sac Bee Article About Jim Les
Great article, nice to see some local publicity for the program. Les is a good fit and shows that any UCD team should be able to compete for league titles, you just need the right coach in charge.
  • Fuel Stations
Every time you think the Ags are starting to act like a real D1 program you hear something like this!! Unreal is right!
  • Another Coaches Show Slated for Today at 6 pm
Great that UCD is doing this! With the seeming decline in interest among students, it definitely makes sense to get out there and engage with the community.
  • Doss to NFL or not?
I suspect there is a decent chance he pursues a grad transfer to an FBS school. But so far, no news is good news.
  • How many games will you attend in 2018 ?
I would prefer to have some night games or if there was some way to add some shade I would probably attend more games. I just can't stand to be in the direct sunlight for too long when its hot.
  • LaRue Softball upgrades begin!
I saw some pics showing the dugout. I was surprised that they were cheap T-111 siding. I was thinking that they would build them in cinder block. They just look like they will look shabby in a short period of time!
  • MBB 7 pm Wednesday: Long Beach State (9-11 & 3-1) @ the Aggies (11-6 & 2-1)
Good win last night! Was disappointed in the attendance (again). I sat at the top of the student section for a while, most of the kids that were there were pretty apathetic...checking their phones, barely paying attention to the game. Can't figure out why we can't get fans to come out and support this team!
  • LaRue Softball upgrades begin!
Are they going to build permanent stands or just bleachers? It would be nice to see some permanent stands with some shade!!
  • New woman’s sport
I wouldn't be surprised if beach volleyball is added, the cost of facilities is low. You just need to add some sand courts. I know both Sac State, Cal, St Mary's and Santa Clara recently added beach volleyball teams, so at least there is local competition. If this sport doesn't add enough bodies, then rowing would probably be the choice.
