don't they have a rally at the stadium for all incoming students and the football team?

the lanyards for Team Aggie give you access to pregame hospitality (if you donate at the $1200 level) and to that and halftime hospitality (if you donate at the $3000 level). they aren't just the game tickets.

This game feels like Idaho, except their offense is better than the Vandals were at that time. their DL can put pressure on the QB and make it hard to run, and they have good players in the defensive backfield. we HAVE to be quick to make adjustments on offense, because we can't afford to dig ourselves a hole. They can score and they are at home.

it does give us a broader exposure to recruits out of state. That’s big for basketball.

i don't think they notice this at all. they seemed to ignore it when the first wave of MWC -> Pac12 movement was announced, and we were mentioned as possible schools to move. Between the Yotes and finals, they have plenty to keep them occupied!

they really need an upgrade. The seating has been upgraded over the past few years, but there are other areas that the building is showing it’s age (45 years or so). There’s one snack bar and it’s not very efficient. Bathrooms are a bit stale. I think the addition of the courtside has been nice.

Pavillion is in the top regime of BW, but probably in lower half of MWC.

the options to the Siouxs (City or Falls) were not very tempting!

a former teammate and I were debating the trip, but neither of us pulled the trigger. From Bay Area, the Sioux (Falls or city) flights were both expensive and inconvenient (leave SFO before 6 AM or land after 11 PM). Omaha was reasonable, but driving a rental car 2 1/2 hours in the middle of nowhere in winter (Omaha shows snow showers Saturday) didn’t seem like a great option. I guess 5 hours when you count the drive back after the game. In the dark.

MTB - that was my point about the men’s soccer; not sure where they go. Mercury News snippet today said 16 sports would move. Maybe men’s soccer stays in BWC?

BGA - caught me completely unawares. Unless it paves the way for football, it’s a bit of a head scratcher.

they aren’t mentioned in the article as sports staying in Big West.

I wonder where men’s soccer will play?

I think they’d like 9 or 10 football for scheduling. With 8, you have 5 OOC games which would be challenging.

I watched Sevilla play several times in high school and really liked his game, but questioned his ability to play at this level due to size/strength. Apparently, my expertise as a basketball talent evaluator is not, thankfully, at the same level as Les! Over the past 6 games, where he's been playing over 30 minutes, he's averaging around 14 points. Over that span, he's had 6 turnovers, 4 against Cal Poly. He has really become a big contributor for us. Not just from beyond the arc, but as a passer - he just seems to make the right pass to keep the offense flowing. I am very impressed at the improvement in his all around game and the increase in his strength. He's now able to contribute on both ends for the bulk of the game. Its similar to Leo's growth. As freshmen, both kind of scared me when they were out there (and coaches seemed to attack them on both ends); now, they are scoring big baskets, and playing solid basketball.

back in the program's dark ages, we were at the football golf tournament when the coach turned it over to Q&A. our most influential alum/donor 'asked' : 'Hey Ron, it seems like every game their QB is better than ours. What do you plan to do about that?'

Its nice to be able to say our QB was the best one on the field every game this year (yes, including Montana State).

last time I used eigenvalues was solving Schrödinger’s equation probably 40 years ago. I don’t remember home field or turnover ratio coming into play!

  • Is there any action on the transfer portal?

not that i know of. most of this is just word of mouth.

Nobody will put their name in until after the playoffs. Lan didn’t last year, but SOMEHOW schools were able to reach out with cash!

I figure the same to be true this year with at least one of our high profile returners. We’ll see if our collective can come up with some cash to help them make the decision to stay.
