• Will the Fans Ever Really Come Back?
Students really need someone ona mic to lead them . They have no idea when t make noise. No ‘Go’ ‘Ags’ chants between Pack and west side. And no Aggie Pack shirts? People around us were trying hard to get chants going; sometimes at the wrong time but at least they were standing and yelling.
  • Dartmouth tabs Daft as new OC and QB coach
Dartmouth is 4-0, 2-0 in the Ivy after knocking off Yale. Good to see Daft’s new gig off to a good start

glad you could join us and sorry I didn’t get to spend time with 6th and SF. An old teammate and good friend I haven’t seen in years was up so we spent much of pregame catching up. Getting too old to spend too much time st brewfest so that worked.

I didn’t in’s the targeting reviews. That’s how they cal that . Call it and review cuz you can reverse it. You can’t review a hit and add targeting. On the others? I guess they were warranted but they were so slow! It was like they were using a sketch artist instead of tv replays to make a decision. If it takes that long don’t reverse. Then on that 4th and short that was going to be close, they chatted for minutes on a fast mask. Mark off the 15 and let’s go.

I thought they went overboard when they reviewed Pint fumbling the tee on a kickoff!

One of the encouraging things is that folk here are disappointed with the loss instead of pointing out the moral victory. Great effort tonight. We made a ton of big plays by many players; in the end they made more. Getting only 3 points off two great int’s hurt. That bomb on the first play after going up 11 was a killer. Gave them life and took the wind out of our sails.

Someone mentioned the end of first half conservative plays. My take? Maier was struggling . I think he was 11-25 and forcing passes. I sense the coaches wanted to get to halftime and calm things down and not risk a turnover and late score especially with them getting second half kickoff.

Probably most entertaining 60 minutes I’ve seen at Aggie Stadium since USD in 2007. Tough one to loss but hard not to feel some optimism for the program. Learn from it and get better.
  • Will the Fans Ever Really Come Back?
Student turnout and inactivity during game was very disappointing. The old folk in our section got several chants going that the students halfheartedly picked up. I doubt most of the brewfest people made it inside. Our section is more full than in the past few years but still 20% empty and those are tickets that mostly went to stadium donors originally. They keep renewing but not showing up. The locals? I don’t know if they’re aware or it’s just not part of their lives like in the old days. Not having a daily paper (a real paper delivered to the house!) doesn’t help. I’d like to think we get close to 10000 for homecoming and build from there. But......
  • Big Sky 9/30
UND was up 28-10 before a fumble on sack in end zone and fumble on own 20 led to another TD. 28-24
  • Week 6: Eastern Washington @ UC Davis
Aggie Stadium attendence records (media guide from a couple years back) is 10,849 vs Poly (09) and SUU (08). last time over 10000 was San Diego in '11. I believe those were all 'tickets sold', because it shows Winston-Salem at 10,289 and i don't remember the stadium being too full for that one.

we'll have more than last week, maybe not as many students. lots of beer drinkers staggering over from brewfest. hopefully more westside season tickets holders coming back.
  • Week 6: Eastern Washington @ UC Davis
it won't be a sellout; i heard they were expecting close to 10000. there should be tickets available. but, if you want seats on the west side (shade), i would get them sooner rather than later.
  • Favorite university to visit for away games ?
I'm toying with the idea of going to ND State in 2019 -> that would be a great game day experience, I'm sure. Doubt we'll make it since we have U-San Diego on the road that season, and we'll be there. Southern Utah is on my list, just for the national parks. Northern Arizona would be a good one for an extended trip -> Grand Canyon, Sedona, Flagstaff. I'm thinking the game day there is pretty bland. Reno is okay -> the fact that my wife wins on the slot about 99% of the time we go, makes it bearable.
  • Favorite university to visit for away games ?
I figured best because, well, it was your honeymoon! Hawaii tops my list. San Diego is second with Colorado State and Boise sharing the bronze medal

To stay with these guys, we’ll need a pass rush in order to make some stops. That hasn’t been a strength of ours. Maybe our staff will come up with something like in the first half last year. We’re not at their level yet, but who knows. Last year (and last week) showed that they handle adversity pretty well , so don’t expect amy help from help. Compete for four quarters and see where we stand.

By the way, I still think the PSU win is a god one despite their 0-4. Beating a team that went toe to toe with two FBS teams is nothing to downplay.
  • Is this the Biggest home game in a dozen years?
First significant game (other than rivals) at aggie stadium. Win is huge. Play competively and lose we’d still be 3-3and ahead of schedule on rebuilding. Should be big crowd. See how the young Ags handle the challenge
  • Week 6: Eastern Washington @ UC Davis
He had back to back 300 yard games in 2015 v poly and sac completing about 65% of his passes with no int. Never got much of a chance last year after the injury vs southern Oregon. Looks to be rushing things now. Need to give him a couple easy passes to get some confidence and make wildcat pass a threat.
  • Week 5: North Dakota @ UC Davis
they were handing them out at the southwest gate as we left. not sure if they wanted until the game was over, or if that was the only gate. i doubt i'll use mine, so i'll let you have ours.
  • Week 6: Eastern Washington @ UC Davis
in his defense, they called a fade route to Doss on a play we hiked from the left hash mark. that's about a 35-yard toss! i think they got lost on what side of the field the ball was on when they made that call. or it was a quick read based on the defense, but, not the wisest choice.
  • Week 5: North Dakota @ UC Davis
The 'bad jokes' is a big hit with the fans. wish they would put the players name up so we got to know who everybody is. I also like my free pizza from Pizza Guys for us scoring 30 points -> a new promotion. ALMOST, compensates for the lose of 'Scream of Steve's Pizza'. AgAlum will attest that I had pretty good game when it came to that last season. Won 2 pizzas!
  • Week 6: Eastern Washington @ UC Davis
Just a little trivia. after 5 games, we're 3-2. last time we were over .500 at this stage? anyone? how about 2004 when we started off 5-0 (ended 6-4!). the stanford season (2005)? nope, 2-3. the year we beat San Jose (2010)? nope, 2-3. since 2005, we've had 1 0-5, 5 1-4's and 5 2-3's (most of those featuring a D2 win). so, hard not to feel pretty good about the Ags, especially with Brewfest coming!
  • Week 5: North Dakota @ UC Davis
I'm a big fan of Hicks, and not just because he's wearing DrMike's #30 (i thought they burned it when i left). Recruited as a fullback in a power offense scheme, and now we're running a run-option that only has a fullback when we're running out the clock. He's been a key contributor on special teams. He had a nice 15-yard KO return when UND kicked short (they did that all game for some weird reason) giving us nice field position (TD pass to Doss on next play). You have to have senior leaders like that when a new regime comes in, and younger guys take the spotlight.
  • Week 6: Eastern Washington @ UC Davis
i was 'wtaching' the EWU-Sac game via GameStats on Saturday. In the first half, Sac got it to 21-17 (after being down 21-0) before EWU scored in the first minute to take it to 28-17. almost all of Sac's first half yards were by run. they ended up with 307, with their QB going for 120. like to see us get the run going, get their offense off the field a bit. not sure we can win a track meet with these guys.
  • Week 5: North Dakota @ UC Davis
I heard the number of season tickets was much higher than recent years but lower than 2007 levels. Many of those are out of towners who might come up once or twice but still renew. Hopefully we'll get more and more of the more local folk using their seats. Or turn them in so someone else can fill the good seats. Make it loud
