it’s just weird that those turnovers don’t seem to be resulting in easy fast break buckets! TY stripped guys 2 or 3 times last night up high and still had to contend with 1-2 defenders on the other end. Could be how opponent’s offenses stay out at the top of the arc?

I wonder if part of the second half woes are fatigue. We only played 8 last night (Lose was out there for only 2….sick?). Defenders are very physical with TY, and we tend to get some full court man pressure all night.

Both Leo and TY are really struggling from the outside. Heading into Bako, Leo was around 50% from 3; the last 3, 2-15. TY has been 1-11 in that stretch.

I was listening to Les in the post game driving home - he mentioned our lack of fast break points. Sometimes, a scorer needs an easy bucket to get things going. I can’t remember the last time TY picked off someone and got an open layup - everything seems contested for him.

Bring on the Beach. Interesting to see them since it looks like a nearly complete remake of the roster.

Feels like we should be up 30; stats back me up. Shooting better tonight. Good crowd
  • Is there any action on the transfer portal?
Blocking was his weakness and that was fatal I. The Plough scheme. He reminded me a bit of Tony Ksys but we couldn’t find a role for him this year.

Good luck to Josh. Didn’t seem to fit in new offensive scheme

Odds seem to be us by 8.5 points, with about a 80% chance of winning, Maybe the oddsmakers have inside knowledge about a breakthrough in our long range shooting.

We’ve beat the Titans 3 straight after they had won 5 of 6. Dedrique Taylor, coach, is a Davis guy who seems to get amped up to beat us. We’ve had some spirited games in the recent past!

Big game- need to get the offense back on track and grab a win.

these guys are saying many things I’ve been thinking. Unless the schools that left can somehow not have to pay their agreed upon exit fee, the PAC12 is hurting. That money has to come from somewhere, and I think it’s from the PAC12 bank account. I also don’t see how they are going to get a big money TV/media deal with the schools they have - Corvallis and Pullman aren’t exactly media hotbeds.

One conference would have made sense.

i don't think Borra would be a game-changer, but we could use those 13 minutes of decent low post defense/rebounding when we want to give Rocek a break. Borra did get a ton of fouls -> his footwork and quickness doesn't come close to Nico. But our options now are Mani who really looks outmatched on defense, and Chappell who is young.

Also makes you appreciate Abebayo. He was a real defensive force and became a decent offensive finisher last year.

Last year, TY shot about 37% from 3; right now, he’s at 18%. That’s a crazy drop off.

We had 12 assists tonight on only 24 made buckets, so that ratio isn’t bad. Pretty similar to CSUN.

It’s like the Pepperdine game just destroyed this group’s confidence on the offensive end. They need to turn this around at home next week

he’s such a liability on defense, it’s hard to keep him out there.

Wish Borra was healthy. Dude is bulked up this year.

    Shooting continues to be horrible

I’m no basketball expert, but it’s hard to win shooting under 30%. Especially when you’re undersized. Down 9 at the half. Decent shooting and this is a close game

My plan is to take down the Christmas stuff later, check the halftime score and then decide if I want to check in on ESPN+

  • MBB: UC Davis (8-5, 2-0) at CSU Bakersfield (6-8, 0-2), Thursday, Jan. 2 at 6:30 pm
I saw that St Mary’s beat Pepperdine 71-41; so, probably good we don’t have St Mary’s on the schedule!

we’re considering this trip. Fly into Vegas, and take a few days to drive and explore the national parks. Downside is the heat in late August. Not much shade in Arches or Zion!

Connor has a tough time at Pepperdine (2-11) and that seems to be affecting his confidence. Including that game, he’s 7-25 the past 3. He was pretty high (around 42%) before the game vs the Waves
