according to this article in their local paper, ‘most’ of their COVID players were back
  • Week 7: Northern Colorado @ UC Davis
A few things on attendance: 1) I’m seeing large group of older students, which i’ve never seen before; 2) student section is lively and sticks to the end. I think that’s helped by all the giveaways and Darius Livingston on the sideline mic; 3) there were a TON of students walking back to the apartments across 113 - that’s new. Seems like most students in the past were frosh who left at the half.

Offense was again sluggish. HR underthrew a wide open receiver at about 15 yards on first drive and that seemed to effect his confidence. One INT was bad, other was a tip that DL barely got. Pressure was a concern even BEFORE the 3 OL went down.

UNC was very poorly coached. 5 procedure calls. TO after a kickoff. Bizarre third down calls. Down 25-0, they took almost 6 minutes off clock with slow drive (time of possession is helped by long huddles) and settled got a FG.

Defense was pretty stout. Their rush totals were pushed up by 4 or 5 big gains, at least 2 on that long FG drive. Stuffed then repeatedly on their full house package. Coverage was good. Rush not so good. Poly and a bye seems to be coming at the right time.

I guess Dotson left the team. They still seem to have running options. His usage for Hornets was very limited early on, and his numbers way down from the past

Not exactly a clinic in offense! Let’s see if Weber can pull it out - and another dropped pass!

If I think about it (I’ll forget) I’ll try tomorrow at the game

it should work that way. With the uneven schedule we could have a logjam of 1 and 2 loss team. If we’re one of the 2’s, we’d still probably ahead of Weber in the selection committee’s mind. Crapshoot

I used both of those last week when i had to be away from TV. Forgot to check Varsity

I just got a ‘homecoming is coming’ email. The audio link there goes to TunedIn

I was looking at tickets for tomorrow. Most of west side shows no availability. Low availability on east side at the ends. That doesn’t account for student showing but looks like another good crowd

I think what will matter most is BSC finish. If Weber loses that’s two conference losses and they are behind us. Not sure what MSU has besides Montana. After Sac plays Montana, they play lower teams until us. They’ll be in the mix, along with Grizzly and EWU. Need those guys to knock somebody out of the running.

did anyone try that link last week? I just went to KHTK and didn't try the Varsity app. i wonder if they only list Big Sky schools that have archived materials?

maybe that’s why we don’t see the all out blitz from the edge? Seems like our pressure comes more up the middle

I think I listened directly from KHTK. What was the problem with TuneIn?

I think this year is a little bit of a fluke due to COVID. FCS benefits from the extra year of eligibility in terms of depth compared to FBS. We can split scholarships so those 6th year guys can stick around and still get some aid. Not the case with FBS.

Something like 8 MWC schools averaged < 25000, 4 < 20000. No wonder they want our 40000 attendance!

not just California. Attendance nationally in 2019 was the lowest since 1996. Not sure how they measure that with all the addition of teams, stadium expansions, etc

I’m hoping we come out in a fast paced RPO scheme to get Hunter rolling, leading to big holes for Gilliam. Sounds like they are a high risk defense so try to exploit that with quick hitters into the open spaces. And NO big plays for their offense. Make their QB beat us by having to be consistent (not a strength ) and not a big run after catch of scramble

Here is the link to MWC salaries. That’s head coaches. Coordinators and assistants make way more than ours.

I know that Hawkins is in the lower half of the Big Sky coaches.

MWC ranges from $600k to $1.6M. I believe Dan is around $260k.

probably so; looks like they were drafted about 4 years apart (Les in 86, Strong in 90).
