i was able to follow the first half and when we held them to under 30 I was feeling good. Young guys are carrying us offensively, but everybody is contributing on D. We have had many games where we’ve outtalented our opponent, but night in and night out we compete and give ourselves a chance to win.

I’m planning on coming up Wednesday -> free ticket for filling out the football survey!

the Ivy League doesn’t start that early. This year they started on 9/21. That’s part of the challenge of getting a matchup with them. All those others look promising
  • Aggies have a new Defensive Coordinator???

remember that sac was 7-4 in 2017 with many of the guys who played big roles last year. 2018 was a disaster with injuries. That and combined with Sears not being a very coach. It was a good situation for a bright coach to step into.

plus the fact that there’s been no announcement about people leaving. Might be a reshuffling of people; lot of turnover on the D line so maybe bringing in a second voice. We’ll see

CSUN is a weird one; maybe that makes them normal in the Big West! Beat the Beach by 18, beat Riverside by 12....and....as you point out.....lose to Poly by 18! We want the CSUN Hydes on Saturday!

we’d have some extra cash to pay someone from the East or Midwest to venture out

Honestly, I’d be very happy with this. Big payoff and enough time to find a replacement. Pac12 games are really tough

by the way, CSUN beat Riverside 80-68 on the road. Diane with 36. He's a load.

Hawaii struggled with Poly 65-61 on the island

we were up 15 early in the 2nd before LB made a 12-0 run to make it interesting. rallied late to pull away (seemingly!) in the last 5 minutes, unless LB made that crazy run in the last 30 seconds. gut check win, especially on the road.

i have to admit : when i saw Pepper v Sac i thought he looked WAY overmatched at this level. boy was i wrong. he's really settled down and has become one of our most dependable players. as abridge said, he's tough and does good things around the hoop.

i really like nuefeld but he can disappear for entire games, especially against athletic defense. he starts to rush, his footwork gets off, and his shot is not good -> almost like he's anticipating a block. if he can slow himself, and trust himself, he can be a solid scorer. we need that.

i would be very surprised it Tucker is gone, since he and Hawk are very close and i think the defense has been pretty decent the past two years. We had a few tough games early on, but played Montana State and Sacramento pretty well, until we wore down late. Played NDSU as well (if not better) than anyone else.

as for twitter....i saw two accounts, one deleted and other last active in December. banquet is next sunday. be interesting to see what's up there.

Yikes; held on but it was a nail biter.

i REALLY like to see them beat Long Beach. Them and Fullerton. And Poly. And Hawaii. And....
  • Playoffs
I’m not sure you could do a multi-week playoff without the home games that the lower divisions have. I’m not a big fan of all the home games. I’d be happy with 8 teams if the goal is to pick the best team. The 20 team playoff in FCS is ridiculous

It was a team Aggie freebie (and hospitality) today.

Tough timing for the women going head to head with the niner game
  • MBB: UC Riverside (10-6, 0-0) at UCD (6-10, 0-0) 7 pm Thursday 1/09
The two bomb 3s at the shot clock were killers. Got to 3, forced bad shots and they nail them to get back to 9. Even if one misses, we have a chance
  • MBB: UC Riverside (10-6, 0-0) at UCD (6-10, 0-0) 7 pm Thursday 1/09
2 1/2 favorites tonight, so basically even. Hopefully a good student turnout to pump done energy into the pavilion
  • MBB: Holy Names (4-7) at UCD (5-10) 7 pm Jan 3rd Free Admission
i know we have beaten this poor horse beyond recognition..but....i thought it was interesting to look at Sac's schedule. 4 home games, Merced, Simpson and two Big West. i think getting teams here is a bit more challenging then we might think. i have to think attendence is part of that -> you must have to guarantee teams a payout for home-game onlys. that might explain why UCSB (9) and Hawaii (11) had some many home games, many (in UCSB's case) with teams on a one-off, home-only case.

i agree; lthat's what i was mentioning above about UNI getting a game at St. Marys on the thursday before they played here. One of the bay area teams or Sac or UOP would make for a nice doubleheader for a team from the midwest.
