i think some of the selections were driven by schools that put in bids to host. I know we came out and said we had no interest in hosting (this was prior to the EWU game).

As for transfers, I thought it was only football and basketball that had the one year eligibility rule. This puts all sports on the same level

thats how I read it. Portal is a means of putting your name out there so schools can recruit, rather than it being the player’s job to find a school (assuming NOBODY would ever pouch players!)

Part of the push for Give Day to give even a small amount is to boast our rankings. One criteria, and it’s big, is percentage of alum that donate. So getting a bunch of young alum to donate $25 means more than an old guy donated a big amount. We have a ton of young alum, not nearly as many donors in the age bracket to make bigger contributions.

I believe that’s the job of the Quality Control coaches. They do much of the game plan prep for coordinators and do self-scouting of our game film.

I read Koehler is entering as a grad transfer so this might be driven by academics. Needs to find a school he can enroll in a masters program in order to use that bonus year of eligibility.

all good points plus the fact that there would have been a two week layoff HAD we have been a playoff team. I frankly think the playoffs are a bad idea. Play into May and back in camp first of August?

I have witnesses from past Brewfests that can attest Vaughn and I aren’t the same person. He’s been a semi-regular pourer of some non small brewery beer (like Bud) and I’ll hit him up when the other lines are too long.

Sow was a great keep. I’m like you -the transfer portal isn’t a favorite of mine, but it’s here to stay. I like giving a chance for a kid to leave early in his career if he decides it’s not a right fit - that gives him time to become part of a new program and campus. Less excited about guys showing up for one year.

UCSB has been killing it with P5 transfers; i believe that 4 of their starters from last year's team were of that variety. That's probably not an area we will make any inroads.
