losing Speckman might hurt with our Sac and Central Valley recruiting. That was his area.

I thought I read they had 15 in the portal
  • MBB: UC Davis (7-4) at #16 UCLA (10-2) Wed. Dec. 21, 2 pm
Our bench scoring has been an issue also.

Feels like a 9-3 preseason was well within reach. Both UOP and EWU were teams I thought we could/should beat, but we didn’t play a solid 40 minutes. Oh well, on to conference

ucla is too big and too athletic and too deep. This is a really good team. They have completely disrupted our offense in the second half

We’re a whopping 24.5 point underdog; based on recent play, that seems about right.

marsh and Williams were talking about how the players could transfer after the season , but I missed the reason.
  • MBB: UC Davis (7-3) at Eastern Washington (4-7) Sat. Dec.17, 1 pm
I missed the first ten minutes of the second half; last 10 minutes we looked lost on both ends

EWU is 4-7 with a win over hapless Cal; not sure they have a good win. They’ve played a challenging schedule. That’s a tough trip. Hopefully FT shooting continues to be good since we get to the line ALOT.

Semi homecoming for Pepper snd DeBruhl. Like to see Leo have a solid game - his confidence seems a bit shaky right now. Like to see his hard effort rewarded

refs were from the Patriot league where games are played in front of dozens of people; Fargodome might have been a bit of an intimidating step up. Of course, that would be a tough crowd for any crew

1-12 for 5 yards. Most of the 11 misses were way off

seems like the turnovers came in spurts. not sure if we lost focus, or just that we were playing different combinations. we went the first 5 minutes without one, and then had 5 in the next 3 plus minutes. another bout of 3 in 2 minutes midway through the 2nd, and 3 in the last 90 seconds! Both TJ and Leo were pressing (4 each). I think its easy to get sloppy in a game like that where it seems so easy -> start trying to do things out of character that (hopefully) you don't try against a better opponent.

Like seeing Henry out there (i had to look him up!). Rocek improves every game. Beasley is just a really solid player - 18 points, 6 rebounds, zero turnovers. And his outside shot looks much better.

We do need the other 2 big guys out there for BW play.

the transfer issue is something Stanford has to figure out. I’d read in the last 3 years, they have had something like 22 transfer out, and one transfer in.

I was unaware of Wulff sad backstory; maybe some old time Davis folks remember. Long story done by ESPN, this Sacbee gives the basics.

  • Deion Sanders Named Head Coach at Colorado

that is the rule now whether the coach leaves or not, correct. Used to be that for grad transfers, now it’s for anyone via transfer portal.

‘ Transferring -- and using the portal, which launched in the fall of 2018 -- has become a staple of college football, even more so after the NCAA eliminated a rule in April 2021 that required transfers to sit out a year at their new university. The rule granted them a one-time waiver to transfer without penalty and with immediate eligibility, and it opened the floodgates of player movement: 1,695 FBS players entered the portal in the 2019-20 cycle, and that number increased to 3,085 in 2021-22.’
