I'm not sure what the active roster limit is. Right now, we have 16 on the roster, but at least two, Gonzalez and Newfeld have to sit out due to transfer rules. That brings us down to 14, and I assume that Nelson sits out due to his knee injury (that's just a guess).

Coming from the JC ranks, he should be eligible to play. Of course, Les has the option, like he did with Chima a few years ago, to red shirt him for a year.

Interesting that this one comes on board relatively late in the recruiting game. I think, when Neufield signed, that the article said that the 2017 class was completed. Interesting...but whatever happened, this team is really shaping up. Should be a fun year!

Excellent news about the game at WSU. Those of you who know me know that I've been bringing my two kids to Aggie games since they were toddlers. My daughter will be a senior at UCD, so her loyalty has never been split. My son, though, starts Wazzu in the fall. He's been to every home men's game (and a handful of away games, including the BWT) the last two years, so this game in Pullman will really test his Aggie loyalty. He's already planning on watching as many aggie games on-line as he can, but it'll be nice that he can catch one in person this year.

I love the fact that he choose UCD now, rather than waiting to see what other offers come in the next year. Seems like he really bought into the program and it's direction.

    From ESPN (a little old):

    ESPN Analyst
    Updated 08/27/2015

    Strengths:
Clark is quick on quick point guard with high basketball IQ. He has exceptional quickness, speed, and his ability to get to where he needs to go is exceptional. He advances the ball well in the open court and his vision is high-level. In addition, he has the ability to break down defenders off the dribble (excellent burst and crossover) and drop off a number of high-level passes. He can change speeds with the dribble and is very good at the stop-and-go move to burn defenders. In terms of his passing he has explosive wrists where he can snap passes from anywhere in the half court. Defensively, he has active hands and he slides his feet well.

    Weaknesses:
Clark doesn't have ideal size for the point guard position at the next level. He needs to continue to improve his strength while attacking and improve his ability to finish plays in the paint area over length. In addition he can knock down the jump shot, especially in the mid-range area, but overall the consistency and range of his jump shot needs to improve.

    Bottom Line:
Clark is undersized, but he has some traits that might remind scouts and fans of a young Tyus Edney (former UCLA point guard).

    A great read!

not just a proud Aggie but also a Davis Senior high grad. And I do believe it's from Mondavi.

Makes sense that we'd be signing a JC big, considering our recent losses. Nice to have another kid from the area.
  • Mikey Henn is transferring
Wow, didn't see that coming. Best of luck to Mikey whatever he may end up.

So, Chima, Goode, Johns and Strom as our "bigs" next year. Hmmm...
  • MBB 2017 Recruits
That's great to hear. We are going to need some offensive punch from the perimeter next year.
  • MBB 2017 Recruits
I'm guessing that with the addition of "bigs" Johns and Strom, and only loosing JT, playing time was going to be a concern. Over the years, Les has shown a preference for only using 4 post players (at most), and with Chima/Goode/Henn locked in, competition for the 4th spot is going to be rugged.

Per Verbal Commits, it looks like we have two "scholarship spots" open for next year. They have Johns listed as a walk on, so maybe one more newcomer?

Good luck to the young man.

That's too bad for the kid...rough way to spend half of your senior year.
  • #16 Aggies (23-12) vs #1 Kansas (28-4)
Just want to say what an incredible season this was. I'm proud of the accomplishments of this team, but more so, the character of these young men. From the dedication of JT to overcome two ACLs, to perserverance of guys like Gerogi and Michael who although don't play too often continue to push it in practice and are ready where their number is called, to the leadership of Lemar and White, and the engaging personalities of Chima and Graham, they are all great ambassadors of UC Davis. Can't wait to see what the future brings for all these players, as well as the program.

As for next years team, we are adding three freshman, 6'6 swingman Delveion Jackson, 6'5 guard Gio Nelson, and 6'8" post Logan Strom. 3 redshirts will be added, 6'4" guard Rogers Printup (out this year with leg injury), 6'9" post Peter Hewitt, and 6'8" post/swing AJ John. And 1 JC transfer in 5'10" TJ Shorts. It'll be interesting to see how the new guys buy in to Les' system. We've got a nice core coming back but the new guys will definitely be needed to step in and contribute. I'm particularly interested in seeing what type of game John and Jackson bring.

  • UC Davis Aggies vs NC Central Eagles @ Dayton, OH
Agreed...we can't expect a dozen games on tv next year, but maybe 2 ESPN games instead of one. Or like you said, more regional coverage would be nice.
  • UC Davis Aggies vs NC Central Eagles @ Dayton, OH
That's a good point. Additional ESPN games, and maybe a step up from ESPN U, could be in the future.

We do need to capitalize on this momentum.

I think that if, at the start of the season, you'd ask me for the best possible "reasonable" season outcome, I'd would have said something like "go undefeated at home (check), compete the big west regular season (check), compete well in the BWT tournament (double check), and if everything falls in line, maybe maybe maybe make it to the Dance (double check)". Winning a game in the tourney wasn't even on the radar, even if it was a Play In Game. So proud of the effort from the entire team and the show of Aggie Pride from the fans! It will be very interesting to see how this season effects attendance next year and recruiting efforts.
