That's interesting. He would be a solid addition to another mid-major team, or even a Pac-12 squad. Seems strange to want to transfer given that UCI will be the favorite again next year.

Yeah I saw that, too. It was down at the Honda Center. Wonder if Joe gave him some hints on any dead spots on the court?

In case anyone is interested, Joe Mooney's brother, Matt, is a starting guard for Texas Tech, who will play Michigan State in the final four on Saturday. He had 17/5/2 in their win over #1 seed Gonzaga last weekend.

Totally agree on the bright future. We have some holes, of course, but I do think we have replacement talent, whether it comes from the current bench players, or new recruits. You mentioned two players that I'm excited to see develop. Stobbart is already a strong defender and rebounder and the Stanford game showed she has offensive skills that she can develop. And Konrad showed this year that she is a smart and energetic player. She'll need to work on her shot but that's very doable.

All I know for sure is that this Coach Gross and the coaching staff will get the most out of the talent, and if I had to place money on who wins both the BW regular season and Tournament, it's got to be the Ags.

Well, rough ending to a wonderful season. Yesterday's game just shows you the difference in size and athleticism between mid-majors and the top tier teams. I know that in quarters 2-4 we played them within about 10 points, but honestly, I think Stanford could have won by whatever point total they wanted. They have a classy coaching staff and clearly didn't want to embarrass the Ags. Nice to see a little glimpse of next year with Stobbart. And it was a pretty good showing by the Aggie fan base.

Congratulations to the 3 great seniors. I will miss watching them play!

Iowa pulled it out, 66-61. Saves the upset spotlight solely for UCD

The rest of the BW is really going to need to step up next year. Both Hazzard and Leonard are Juniors.

I know there is a financial incentive for us to root for other BW teams in the tourney, but above that, it's nice to see the big west getting some national recognition.

I missed most of the game, but it sounds like UCI was able to handle the tough K St defense. Way to go!

JUCO PF Luka Barišić (6-9, -, 2★) committed to UTSA. We'll need height from somewhere else.

Funny you mentioned Henn. He was at the Honda center for our game against CSUF. Don't know if he was there for the entire day/tournament, or just there to root on his former teammates. I also thought he'd be a mainstay in the lineup for the Ags.

Good to hear that we may see additional signings. Size is obviously a need, whether we get JC transfer Barisic, or someone else. I do wonder about the numbers. We are graduating 5, and we've already added 5 (JC transfer Johnson, and freshman Manjon, Pepper, Murphy and Gehrke). If there are more additions, do we also see some subtractions?

Looking forward to going to this one. As a fan, I'll be rooting hard for the Ags to pull the huge upset. Realistically, I hope we play to our potential, play hard and smart, and make the plays that we are capable of making. The WBB have been a top performing UCD athletic program for years now, but we haven't been able to take that next step of beating, or really competing closely with a top 25 team. Last few years, here are the scores against top ranked teams:

    2018-19 vs Stanford (#7) 43-71
    2017-18 vs Oregon St (#17) 47-61
    2016-17 vs Stanford (#11) 42-68
    2016-17 vs Oregon St (#15) 52-93
    2015-16 vs Stanford (#16) 45-74

Maybe this is the year...Go Ags!

I agree with EBA, I can't see us scheduling a rigorous schedule as we'll be breaking in quite a few new players, along with an increase in responsibility for several players who got some minutes this year.

As part of the Hardwood Showcase, will we get to host any of the return games (not Arkansas or Indiana)? UT Arlington, Texas A&M CC and Montana State were part of the showcase, although we didn't play Montana St.? And I think i probably say this each year, but with 5 D1 schools in the Bay Area, it'd be nice to play at least a few of them each year, and actually host one or two games.

My daughter (UCD alum also) is home on spring break from UChicago (another lemon C logo school), so we might end up trying to go. We've been to two previous women's games at Stanford (both big losses), but this would certainly be our first NCAA tourney game.

Or stay in Davis, save the ticket $$$ and go to the grad and watch it...hmm.

Plus they beat us by 28 the first game of the season. We are a lot better now (obviously), and at least we won't have the jitters of facing someone we've never seen. Saturday at Stanford (on ESPN2). Let's Go Aggies!
