Thinking about a Walnut Creek (or immediate area) watch party. Thinking something like Stadium Pub or Masse's for the 925 folks.....

Any interest from Contra Costa Aggies?

My initial reaction:


1. Is there an unwritten agreement we are moving up to FBS to be football team #9 and Sac coming on soon to be #10?
2. This is a step down academically (but this isn't as big a deal these days for ADs)
3. This is a step down for baseball
4. This is a step up for basketball
5. MWC has larger athletics budgets, which is good for the future of our athletics depart (I don't have facts to back this up at the moment, just my assumption)


1. seems likely......maybe we are being given some time to fundraise and make an announcement about FBS football in a couple years?
It seems like strategically the MWC has some football options if they want to get to 10 (Sac and Davis.....and however else they can snag)

I'm also assuming they want an even 10 football teams (for 2 divisions, or whatever)....and they might not, since they've reached 8 at this point.

Honestly, I'm not sure what the point is unless we are planning on moving up in football fairly soon.

Yikes. That was a tough time for the program for many folks.

I think it would be cool to somehow keep the grass and build the decks (which would need to be set-back a bit for sun). Shaded areas in August/September might help attendance, although we seem to remedy the issue with late kickoffs.

........Also found a fantasic Aggie Stadium upgrade rendering that puts Rocko's to shame .....this is by "ES2X" in 2016 who is not a member on AST (under the same username, anyway). He laid out possible locations for "Voodoo Cornfields." It was fabulous. :D

I went back and looked at some old stuff......Randomly found in a Golden Horseshoe thread where I predicted Josh Kelley would end up in the Pac-12 back in 2016 (back when he was required to sit out due to transfer rules).

I'm basically Nostradamus.

He was a god dude, and helpful in the transition to the new board.

Although our CA logo literally translates as "Cal Aggies"......we go by UC Davis, not Cal Davis. I feel the script "Davis" on the helmets is the clearest representation.

It can and has been done. Those student sections were loud too!

In work, management matters. In sports, coaching staff matters. In event promo, staff matters.
Its all about who's on staff and 'holding the mic.' Its about level of effort. Those Aggie Pack guys had heart/determination and pride.

Make no bones about it…..student support sucks and I hate it. But I also get it.
The city of Davis population is 60k + right? That alone should be enough to fill the place with 15k.

Football culture in CA is the issue. He needs to be careful to not attack the wrong folks, but I understand because I share the same frustrations (for the past 20 years)

This one is on the students. BUT he knows what it’s like at UC..he lived it.
His classmates cared a lot about finals. And they start Monday. Like LeFan said, this is the way it is in the UC system. Cal and UCLA deal with the same student attendance issues.
