• New Helmets for the 2020-21 Season
I really like these matte navy ones. But I also think the gold is classic and should remain the "normal" helmet. Not the mirrored one, but this one:

  • Big West to delay most Fall Sports to 2021
Writing is on the wall for football too :(

NEC (FCS) announced a delay today, as did the SEC.
  • San Jose game out?
CMT— take this to another thread if you want to. we’re here to talk Aggie football and the SJSU game here.
  • Keelan Doss: Raider Watch
A couple other noteworthy NFL tidbits:
Broncos released former Aggie punter Colby Wadman. Was making $1.7 million and 2 years into a 3 year deal.

Broncos also fired their OC, Rich Scangarello, who was former ucd OC.

And former Aggie rb Josh Kelley is likely to be a 4th round draft pick. Was phenomenal after transferring to UCLA after Gould left.
  • Honest question: What kind of school are we?
I would agree with AggieFinn that it's bare bones support across the board. The demographics of the student body are much different now compared to ten years ago and certainly 20 years ago. I read an article not too long ago that UCD is the most racially diverse university in the U.S. And with that has sadly come the slow downturn in enthusiasm over the past decade :(

The current students aren't juiced about football and sports, in general. BaseballAtDobbins is correct that lots don't understand how sports like football work and this is a turn off for going to games or learning more about them. I think more students are familiar w/ soccer than any other sport because of its global reach. But is Davis truly a "Soccer School"? I don't think so. The history just isn't there. It's still a football school, just not on the level of a Cal or Stanford program.

However, it's wrong to try to compare Davis to other schools like I just did. But, nowadays, students and locals don't embrace that idea -- one that Jim Sochor trumpeted during his time in town and helped make Davis so unique and great; seeing past what we don't have and instead embracing what we do have to work with. Davis could use some more of that thinking now.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
Pluto TV stream not working...again. This is getting old. I second whoever was commenting earlier in the week about how pathetic it is that we can't get a reliable stream or viewing service for a D1 team.
  • Montana Game
I think part of the O's problem lately is the inexperience of the O-Line. There's a freshman and a few returners w/ very little experience starting this season. Saw Jake get absolutely smacked on one play in the beginning of the fourth quarter on Sat. Guys were tired and flustered.
  • Aggies vs Bears
Typical Berkeley fans...coming on our site to complain they've been picked on. What was it Dan Hawkins said? THIS AIN'T INTRAMURALS!
  • Aggies vs Bears
Great story. I love Biggs quotes.
  • Looking Forward to 2019
Interesting. From what I recall, Whelan had a rocky year in 2017 and got benched for a long stretch so Blair, the kicker punted. Special teams was a lot more solid last season, but we also had a great offense so ags weren't punting out of the endzone as often.
  • Athletics and Football Budget
I think you are right about the donation to get the students in for the UNI game. Place was rocking all night, same for the Idaho State thriller. Zander, I too have heard Cal students have to purchase discounted tickets. I know other big time programs (Oregon) even have some sort of lottery process to get students tix.
Would like to discuss how to get more current students in the door at future games (changes the atmosphere at Aggie Stadium a ton), but that is for another thread sometime.
  • Athletics and Football Budget
Re: "UC students no longer get free tics to UC football games."

Is this a 2019 change? I recall Davis students getting in free for the Aggie playoff game and perhaps homecoming game last fall. Or is this limited to Cal/UCLA?
  • FBS QB'S transferring to FCS
    NDSU QB sounds interesting.
  • Bad press for the Band-Uh!
Could the alumni band still have a group go out and invite the band members to join them?
  • Cal's non-diverse HC lineup gets fan heat
Don't know if he was offered re-up, but I do recall the former XC coach, who Shef hired, was fired last year. I'm sure he had some heat from that. Also- Kaufman said same thing when she "left" w soccer (pursuing new coaching opportunities).
  • Bear on Campus
Cal football already trying to get in our heads.
  • Morgan Bertsch to Play in Russia
Good for her! Any idea what contracts are like in that league?
  • MBB Signs 3 New Players
He looks exciting! much different style than any Aggie guard we've had in some years.
  • UCD win 3- 2 !
Inflated #s seems to be common practice among PAC-12 programs. Stanford vs UCD football game earlier this year was extremely inaccurate as well. I wonder if they get any sort of kickback from the NCAA for those numbers? Or if it helps for hosting events...etc
  • Aggies win 4- 2 !
No kidding! Neat piece of history
