I don't remember the names of some of my UCD professors, but I remember my Linguistics 1 professor was Hispanic. I was pretty decent with languages, but I had to work my tail off to just get a B in lower divisionJapanese classes. College is a terrible time to start learning that language (totemo taihen Desu !) Would rather have taken more than 1 year of Russian, but Davis only had 1 professor, and he didn't emphasize speaking it in class. Seriously, I brought it up and he said "Great idea, let's put it to a vote". The class vetoed it, including the 30ish looking guy who said he was majoring in it....

Not sure. I didn't see it every game I attended (only went to 5 total + 1 in Sac). On the days I did see it there didn't seem to be a huge demand, but I think people were caught by surprise.

Now that's just silly of them. The purpose of the cheerleaders is to increase school spirit and encourage the athletes to play better. By this logic concession stand work should be a sport. Like cheerleading it is essential to the game and makes no sense in stand- alone competition. The cheerleading routines are tailored to a specific school, which they aren't supporting by being at competitions instead. Might as well have no hot dogs at the games either.

I don't think it's up to them. UCD is what is mainly in the way of UCD joining the FBS. And why do it ? You expand seating to 60,000 and you'll have 52,000 empty seats. The students aren't going to be less indifferent just because better teams (Not CAL, they still won't come) come to steamroll the Aggies.

This the kind of thing I'm talking about when I say the university acts like it's too big for its britches. The D- I move has slowly been killing the fun atmosphere since 2005. Luckily bball brought a little of it back.

Height difference ? In men's games seems like it's usually the shorter players who do the best job. Perhaps the shooting angle is more favorable the further you are from the top of the basket ? Perhaps they are more forceful when what they need is finesse.

And not all female college bball players are better at free throws. Here's a name for you: Kelly Ditto.

SAC State has had some great basketball coach names over the years . Bunky Harkleroad sounds like a coach with whom you can drink beers and go hunting. Hard to imagine him ever being mean. I believe he coached in W. VA. Anyone else up for a John Denver sing- along ? Country roads, take me home....

I wonder who Brandon Laird roots for during these matches; the school that employs him or the one that let him play bball.

lol...depends on your taste in women. Just through casual observation the average co- ed seems to be a bit better- looking than in my time, but a lot of these students have brains galore and zero common sense. Their bicycle riding is a good example.

Interestingly enough I noticed guys still try to impress girls with Linguistics 1 stuff, as if no one knows that clicks are a feature of some languages in Africa. Was on the Yolobus once and this guy was recapping his first semester of linguistics, and after he did his spiel about the clicks (and she pretended it was new and shocking) he tried to put his arm around her.Denied, fool !!!! Poor young woman, she was a captive audience. It's a long ride from Davis to SAC with few stops

There was beer sold at weekend games this year, along with Woodstock's Pizza. I had to double- check just now to make sure I didn't time warp back to January because I thought this wasn't news anymore..haha.

How about a distracted cycling team ? No need to recruit, have plenty of talent on campus. They can compete 100% on the road.

I know, how about a bowling team ? That way it can be completely impossible to get a lane at the Memorial Union.

No, this is going to be another run down a field to a goalsport, so vote for something that isn't lame. Women's rugby, if that is a varsity sport any where else.

Guys, I still think this is great. Baseball gets three more home games every year (or six more every other year). That's two more teams that have to come to Davis. They don't have a choice !

I think in terms of recruiting baseball will get more competition than basketball from Unhappy Clowns Seek Dessert. Davis has extended its recruiting for basketball into Canada and many different parts of the U.S. It has plenty of options. Baseball has restricted itself to .CA, and it's going to get a lot tougher to recruit if the coaching staff can't expand its search to at least the states that directly border CA.

I believe they were travel partners in the CCAA after Davis left and Grand Canyon tried to be NAIA for a spell, just the time frame.
