  • Week 1: UC Davis @ Idaho
Pluto TV and the Big Sky website had the Vandal TV broadcast, no video from Aggie side I believe, though we'll be spoiled for home games with the CW coverage

HR's statline is actually kind of nuts under the circumstances. He was 12/22 in his Aggie career going into this game, virtually all against second and third string defenses. And then this game with the delay and playing from behind he puts up Maier numbers
  • WBB: March 5/6 UC Davis (9-1, 8-0 Big West) at Hawai'i (7-6, 6-5 Big West)
Problem is I'm not sure where else Hawaii could go. This is by far the most doable conference for them travel-wise; the alternative would be maybe the Mountain West or Big Sky in the name of levelling the playing field in terms of their travel time vs conference average. But some of those trips would be brutal for them.

Ah, should have been obvious to me lol

The something like 3-1 TOP ratio with their QB casually shaking off defenders was cause for concern IMO, I usually don't expect for defense to somehow become better against the run the later the game goes on

Even TOP was about equal in the end, most other offensive stats favoring the Aggies. Which means the Ags were dominant in pretty much every category second half.

I have to eat some of my words, I'm much less nervous now

Kicking definitely looks like it would have been better in hindsight

Offensive reps are important too I at this point I guess, couldn't tell if that was all first-stringers in there either
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ Idaho
Are we leaving O on the field or going to try to build confidence for the new kicker?
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ Idaho
I am VERY impressed with the adjustments and tenacity here.

Still concerned about defense against better rushing teams, but this bodes well for a decent season
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ Idaho
It feels like Ags finally have the personnel to run the offense Hawkins has wanted to run. Our backs look super solid, line is doing its job, and HR's legs can be the wild card, not that we've needed them yet

    Great defensive stop

Amazing throw and catch, being reviewed
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ Idaho
    Terrible turn of events
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ Idaho
My prior comment was true for a single play
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ Idaho
Aggies actually leading in total offense now just with hugely unbalanced TOP numbers.

I know we didn't have a bare cupboard, but I didn't expect Rodrigues to be this good right out of the gate
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ Idaho
That's fair, and if we see some improvement in the season then that will definitely look like it all makes sense.

Just seems too much like a pattern to me. I'm still frustrated by the unforced false start that cost the UND game last year
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ Idaho
My stream skipped over the TD but apparently it was a 7-yard pass?
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ Idaho
Cynical me says they've figured out they can get 3-4 yards they need it and use all four downs if they keep it on the ground, so there's no reason not to shoot for big plays
  • Week 1: UC Davis @ Idaho
I understand that rust is a thing but I am frustrated again and again that the Ags are often the sloppier team on the field.

It is known going in to each season that Davis teams will often not have any particular speed or size advantage. I know it's not as simple as just handwaving execution errors and penalties away, but good execution is simply something that has to happen and has to favor the Aggies to be competitive.
