Going to be an interesting off-season with the QBs. Two really good young options, Cleeland will take the 1 reps heading into Spring Ball but Eason will get a shot. If he competes, they’ll leave it open going into fall camp. If Cleeland ascends, he’ll be the starter coming out of Spring. Cleeland’s advantage is that he was #3 and was prepped differently than the #4. Slim edge, we shall see. I won’t be surprised if Eason wins it, he’s built for it. Hell they both are. The only thing we’re lacking is experience, sort of like we were in late-August 2025. In Plough/Shelton we trust!

LSU makes some sense as there were Ole Miss rumblings that started around the halfway point of the season. Those guys are now the coaches and front office staff at LSU. Can someone say “tampering”. My money is on his representatives. That’s how it works folks.

69Aggie, this whole deal could wear a coach out. I believe Plough at his word and this crap the NCAA has created is what it is. He will continue to recruit and develop, he’ll hire outstanding young coaches, and while we’ll lose kids that really hurt or hit close to home, at the end of the day he’s still coaching his dream job for all the reasons he preaches from the pulpit every time he’s got a mic in his face.

Wow. 1/3 of FBS. On top of 12-15k names left in the portal from last year. This deal is a disaster, I could not imagine being a coach at a place like Davis without an entire front office to sort through all this. Would be interested to know how they do it. A lot of it is from friends in the profession (trying to help kids they’re cutting to find a soft landing) but it is brutal. And they’re starting on their ‘27 class by now!

UCLA is a mess. There will be a bunch of free agents looking for $ but maybe a few kids that still value a UC education. There will be a bunch of kids from Virginia and the South heading there once Coach gets his baring a straight.

The big money is in the TV deals. They could really capitalize on the old Pac 10 After Dark model and own the late game time slots. Maybe overtake the MACtion game son Tuesdays or whatever, I’ve still never watched one of those.

My guess is that either someone invests to develop OR we look for programs that are sinking ships (1-2 years from HC firing) and need to find a guy NOW, either P4 or G5. I really love the kid’s game, I just don’t see him as an answer at P4 for 2026, so the development scenario probably makes more sense.

Very interesting read, some real food for thought. I don’t know if that configuration could generate the revenue streams to keep the P4 programs interested, especially USC. The other 3 might be all about it!

They have to enter/declare for eligibility purposes. It’s a formality. Likely has a deal done, that tends to happen with QBs. Could be in a bidding war, could have no real interest yet. We shall see.

The NIL representation for CP is called Red Envelope Athletes, founded by Tom Brady’s old agent, Donald Yee. They literally scout players to represent, give valuations, and work to convince them to enter to lotto. I imagine they also have the potential suitors lined up on the other side. Messed up business in a messed up landscape.

You’re not a downer, it is what it is. The NCAA has created a shitshow and days like today are the byproduct. I agree and wouldn’t be surprised if there was a slight domino effect.

I’m still very interested to see what the market will be. And CP is close enough with Plough that if he doesn’t get the deal he’s looking for, he might be back. We’ll know more by January 16.

The performance of that Ole Miss QB last night probably didn’t help the cause. It might absolutely get “bad” as Supreme has predicted, but I’m skeptical on the market for a bunch of young players still in the developmental phases of their careers. Most $ goes to guys that are plug and play. Kids can enter the portal without leaving as well, as long as the coaching staff will have them back.

Stay the course, develop the guys we have, plug holes as needed. I predict that a bunch of kids think it’s cool to enter the portal, they see lists of kids opting out of bowl games on TV, thinking they have the leverage, then the rubber meets the road. Over 10k names were in the portal BEFORE it opened today… that is where teams cut players and playing careers go to die. San Diego State dumped/advised 30 guys into the portal today. Be careful boys, it’s not as sexy as you think.

As long as it’s only a “list” it’s meaningless and they can return if they have another year. However, to play in college all star games, one would have to be declared for the draft.

We have all off season to break down the tailgate scene. Would love to see it all unified on the practice field, but there are some great pit stops parked on the road as well. More brewfest; no reason they can't do that every week or find featured brewery/winery/BBQ or catering spot to highlight. Don't charge admission, just pay for the space

Man, I learn a lot on this board. We have guys that sound like they know a thing or two about construction management, engineering, private equity, not to mention all the history we get sprinkled in. I appreciate you guys

Zo is a very likeable guy and a good man. Been around the block a little, and there is no doubt he is connected in the Bay Area (especially on the eastside and Oakland), and I would even say, into Sac and the Valley. BUT... has he even coordinated? He will need to hit it out of the park with those three hires. I think he is right in saying Sac is an uphill battle, and he needs to keep telling himself that. No conference, no schedule, big-talking president, massive roster voids, facility issues, and so on and so forth. If you put those tags on any other program in America, you would be labeling it an uphill climb too.

Truth be told, both they and Cal Poly are looking waaaaaay up the hill at the Aggies, from the president's office down to the support infrastructure for football. Let's keep it that way.

It only makes sense to allow them to participate. I remember mid-year juco guys can practice, so I guess a grad transfer that has graduated should be afforded the same opportunity. We are talking about NCAA rules though...

April makes sense to me. Next question: portal opens in early January I think, is there time to get transfers enrolled in time for spring ball?

What's the take on the rising kicker(s) we have in the program? We utilize a kickoff "specialist" and a pat/field goal kicker. What about punter? I thought he was pretty solid this year. Snappers? Anyone have any scoop on these races heading into the off-season?

Also, did I hear Plough say at a presser that spring football will be in April next year?
