I totally missed this game, thinking the Ags opened with Utah State on Nov. 9. Anyone see it on streaming video?

MTBAggie, thanks for the correction. As a long-time 49er fan I knew that Garoppolo went to Eastern Illinois, so I must have had the Golden Eagles in my head. At least, I've learned how to spell his name. Still can't spell Juszczyk without looking it up and forget about Antenetekompo.

I think a lot of players are overlooked by FBS schools for a variety of reasons and show how good they are once they get a chance. NFL scouts know where to find them.

My father was a Cal alum and we never got to the games before kickoff for want of a parking spot anywhere close to Memorial Stadium. He always tried to find street parking in Berkeley to save a buck or two. But that was in the 50s and 60s. I'm sure it's better now and a lot more expensive.

I've never seen the Golden Horseshoe and can't find it on the web, even though Wikipedia has an article about it (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_for_the_Golden_Horseshoe). Can someone please post a photo of it?

I thought the offensive play calls by Cal Poly were often odd. Then I remembered that Beau Baldwin was the OC at Cal for a couple of years and that I thought the offense was conservative and unimaginative. He's clearly a good coach, winning an FCS title at EWU, but I wonder when he has his heavy back try to run an end around when he was clearly at his best bulling his way up the middle. Also, on more than a couple of third down and long attempts, the Mustangs ran the ball, even in the fourth quarter. The tunnel screens and put patterns didn't work very well either and I suspect it is because Brasch was not comfortable with those throws, but very good at rifling passes down the middle. If that's tru you'd think Baldwin would know that.

For those not watching the broadcast, it is worth noting that Weber State upset Eastern Washington today.

I agree that the play by play and color guy are Cal Poly's. They started out trying to be objective, but their bias is seeping in.

No replay of Gilliam's TD run. Ballsy of the Cal Poly coach to try an onside kick. High risk, high reward.

I wonder if ESPN hires an ad hoc crew to televise these games. The commentators are not exactly first rate and the technical crew seems to be minimally proficient with the camera going out of focus from time to time, the camera panning in and out at odd moments and the replays, while possible, are not shown for key plays.

Some penalties are frustrating because the infraction has not affected the play, but the guy who blocked the kick was the guy who was offside. So...poetic justice. Of course, the color man missed that.
