Yes, it was great to hear Bob Williams explain the fine points of the game. I did not know that “foot placement” was an important aspect of playing defense. I heard him say he was back in “nor-cal” but he did not say Davis that I heard. Great that his heart is here and not in Santa Barbara. 20 years ago he coached a team that I believe did what no other UCD team has ever done: won a National Championship. I recall his ardent plea at a 1990’s campus meeting that we needed to move up to D-1 for the good of all Aggie sports, but he could not convince the hard headed academic senate to go there. He has been proven right to his ever lasting credit. I hope he stays on as the color guy. Great guy!

I feel your pain Toke, but its not all the students fault. The City of Davis is like one of those now unique places where there are so many local things to go to every night for parents and older people- PTA, night classes, workouts, church meetings,2 HS games, Jr. Hi games .etc. We are not like Berlekey, LA, or Palo Alto where a huge number of non student fans come regularly because they have no other responsibilities or things to do. Actually that is why I loved living in Davis for all those years. But, i went to many many games!
  • Aggies Sweep Players of the Week Award
I don’t know how these polls are really done, but the fact that we beat both UCI and St Marys and they are higher ranked just makes the fairness of these polls very suspect. But like my buddies above say, it sure gives Jen some good stuff to talk about in practice and the huddle. Big CHIP coming at you!
  • Bruce Edwards Says Ags Will Go FBS in 5-10 Years
It was a joke. Plus, “Pac13” is very bad JU JU and creates an odd number of teams. So, add Utah State Aggies and UC Davis Aggies? Not so great, but I guess possible. Maybe by 2050 something will happen like this.
  • MBB 2/9 9 pm: Aggies ( 7-14 & 3-4) @ UCSB (17-5 & 6-2)
Is there anyway to watch this replay?
  • WBB 2/9 2 pm: UCD ((16-6 & 8-1) @ Cal Poly (5-14 & 1-8)
Thanks Russ for the tip. I love watching the gals do their thing and I don’t want to miss anything they do. They say you cant coach shooting but you can coach ball movement and the Lady Ags are so good at that part of the game. Almost like a ballet out there and Poly was trying a full court press! Hats of to Coach Jen and her Aggie Gals. A dominate win!

Missed most of the game is there a way to get the replay?
  • 2019 Recruiting List
I cannot find anything on line about the athletic performance center construction project. Usually, the campus projects are available on the administration website, but I see nothing yet. Apparently, someone has noticed construction activity there. Is is possible that this a UC Davis Health project and that it would be the site covering the project? I heard that the football field would be the first stage of the project.

I was mostly wrong about the Richardson brothers not wanting to play against each other or dad. Rather interesting that the new Richardson brother stuck with brother over dad to play for the Ags. I guess its an easy call to play 11 games with your bro and only 1 against dad. I respect the dad a lot for letting his kids make the decision which had to be a little difficult.
  • UOP drops field hockey
Yes, but we have an very wealthy player parent who is apparently not used being told “no” you can’t do that. I have no idea who he/she is, but if he/she built the FH field hockey field he/she certainly can help KB figure this thing out. And then is still very plucky Stanford who also does not take “no” all that well either. I don’t think Dominque would have taken this job if she didn’t think there was a future here in FH. I think 72 made a very good point. The SoCal area needs this HS sport at another level. Lordy, there is enough wealth down there to get this figured out fast. Also, this is an Olympic sport and guess who gets the Games in 2028? LA.

But against his brother and dad? Don’t know where his brother is going to go. But i would suspect sac. So what then?
  • UOP drops field hockey
New FH coach hired by KB. Dominique Masters. So this sport is not going away any time soon. I bet that KB and Stanford will figure out a way to keep FH on the west coast.

I think its a fair question: will Kopper Richardson transfer to play for his dad? If so, OL not so talented.
  • WBB 2/2 2 pm: CSUN (11-10, 5-2) at UCD (14-5, 6-1)
The refs were calling a very tight game today, especially against the Ags (according to KDVS guy) but that’s what happens in a game against a very physical and potentially intimidating team like CSUN. The blocking foul on Morgan by Flucker which put her on the deck was a bit suspect, but whatever and glad she wasn’t hurt. Overall, very proud of the Lady Ags tonight.
  • Was CTE Stealing His Mind? A Gunshot Provided the Answer
Something just doesn’t fit here. I saw Jason Hairston play at every home game he played at UC Davis. I never witnessed any extreme hit to the head or even an injury to the upper body to Jason during those games. He played a bit in the NFL but I don’t think he was ever injured or put on the disabled or the unable to play list during his time in the NFL. So what I am saying is that many other college and NFL linebackers/players have played and taken severe hits to the head and have no CTE symptoms such as did Jason. I do not doubt that he had this disease, I just think there must be some genetic or other component to this disease besides hits to the head or upper body. It would seem that much more research needs to be done on this tragic disease. My loving thoughts and sympathy go out to Jasons beautiful wife and family for their tremendous loss of a great guy and great Aggie, Jason Hairston.
  • Where’s the new equestrian coach?
This meet actually got a fair amount of TV coverage in the Sac Metro area with CBS and Fox affiliates giving coverage to the program’s first ever meet in Davis. I wish i knew how to post those TV shots onto this post like so many of you do. Much still to learn. Great game by the Aggies! The Equestrian site has those TV shots.
  • WBB 1/31 6 pm: Long Beach (5-13, 2-3) at UCD (13-6, 5-1)
Great win. I think maybe that the coaching staff was experimenting a bit with those quick inside passes which went wayward and looked very bad. Those passes are extremely hard to make work. But if they could be perfected they would be an incredible addition to an otherwise very competent offense. Meanwhile, could Morgan’s Biomedical team arrange for a blood transplant from the woman’s team to the very sad guys team?
  • MEN'S WATER POLO
I will circulate the petition to get this done ASAP! Also, if you go to the athletic social sight wall you will see their beautiful slick new uniforms; and, yes, Addidas has provided the uniforms. Simple, but very nice design work by Addidas.
  • MEN'S WATER POLO
    Sorry- Delaware was ranked #7.
  • MEN'S WATER POLO
I confess I know next to nothing about this sport, but it appears that the Aggie Equestrian Team has won their inaugural equestrian meet against Delaware State the 9th ranked team in the nation- 6 to 4. Congratulations to these Aggie women on this historic win!
