Having been somewhat critical of our pass defense in the past I have to remind myself that we have won all those games where we did give up lots of yardage by the pass. So why? I think we have a clear strategy of using a (not quite) prevent pass defense on almost every defensive play. Yes, this gives up plenty of yards, but it does eat up time on the clock and prevent (most) quick TDs. Anyway just IMHO for what it’s worth.

Good teams win close games. Bad teams lose close games. Good things: MH getting better. LL getting better and better. TT still has that majic. Bad: pass D looked not so good. PSU was definitely up for this game. We were not. Still probably thinking of the Idaho game. FB a still is a game of 18-20 year olds playing a game. I had two. Very hard! Cudos to those who can actually coach them!

I don’t mind the new rankings at this point in the season at all! Underdogs always perform better because they are trying to prove their a better team than the critics say. Example: Idaho game. Late season is a different story because it definitely effects the playoffs.

This is the unintended result of the BIG announcement by sac over the new hornet stadium project and the intention for sac to get into the PAC-X. Way too much hoopla. This took the air out of the stadium (sorry for the bad pun) for the poor hornets and they got crushed by an unranked team NAU. Not to say sac still isn’t a very good team, but there are a lot of unanswered questions here about the funding of the stadium and also the strength of the team. I do hope they get the funding for this project because the present hornets stadium is simply unsafe. I haven’t been there in years.

Might be the biggest win in UC Davis athletic history. LSU has a very good soccer team and the Aggies took them down. Congratulations to the lady Aggies soccer team!

It doesn’t hurt that the PAC 12 Commissioner is a former aggie AD and knows us very well. But the real issue will be the multi million dollar buy outs. If there are no work arounds for that the whole deal might be dead before it gets off the ground.

Few are sleeping in Bear town tonight. Even the thought of a loss to us makes their collection skin sweat with anxiety and fear of the unknown repercussions. Turn in sleep. Girl friends sobbing on their shoulders. Coach likely to be terminated. Cheer leaders vanquished to ours. On the other hand we will be sleeping very well. Unless of course Berkeley tries to steal our Chancellor which is actually very possible. Anyway you call it, it’s just really a game for the kids to play. For fun!

Do all FBS teams do this in helmet communication thing? I guess it’s an added advantage if done carefully; but how do they make sure they are talking to the right player? Is micromanaging always a good thing? The next thing will be like the Michigan dude who stole opponents signals only with electronic countermeasures or radio jamming. Good grief! What is happening to good old American football?

I think that with LL now a known factor MH will have a much better year, I.e. play action and yes mostly 5-10-15 yard passes. This equals ball control football which we all happen to love. Just my humble opinion.

And, again, the one unanswered question: why do we not have lights? Has there ever even been a statement from the administration on this issue?

CA I think you are right to bring this up regarding LLs decision to stay with the Aggies. and yes there is no doubt that if he had gone into the portal he would have gotten a lot of interest. So the real question is why. I think it has to do with character and loyalty. LL has that. One of the former
Posters criticized me for not giving Cal’s leading RB, J. Ott, more credit as a player citing many statistics etc. so here we have a sophomore RB at cal who did have very good stats who then jumped into the portal for his personal gain only. Versus someone like LL who was willing to stick with his old team over personal gain. So I think character
r matters. Loyal teammates matter. OL guys will block better for guys they love and respect. That said, I hope LL and JO both have good games and don’t get hurt.

I think that as the end of last season showed, if LL can get even the tiniest hole thru the scrimmage line, he is likely to get significant yards on every play. Because he is so quick and strong. So now the question is whether we have the OL who can do this? Arm tackling LBs will not stop him. Sure, Ott is a great RB but not a breakaway RB like LL. If we can slow him down we can win this game. So I agree, a game control strategy might work.

TT in the slot is a very dangerous threat. He is great at the catch and run, he can block and yes he doe the double pass very well. And he can also step back and take the direct snap and run very well. Do not underestimate TTs ability be a to big factor next season. He is a gamer. Oh yes, he can also return punts. A very underestimated talent indeed.
