Back on Telford. I recall when he was at cal the media had a fit to learn he was the highest paid UC employee in the state at over 1 million plus per year. Yes, and he had some very impressive winning seasons. Fast forward to 2016 and you have Charlie Strong at Texas making 5.2 million a year and never had a winning season over 3 years. He was fired last November. He's moved on to South Florida and has apparently not taken much of a salary hit there. Wonder what Telford makes a Fresno?

You have to wonder why Fresno state? And why so fascinated with the rather unlikeable Tedford? I guess his record is impressive as was his recruiting at cal. But, oh my, that 48% graduation rate at cal- not good at all. Will not be a problem at Fresno. Good luck to the kid who seems to be a very good player.
  • May sits on Boards
Recent Enterprise article says May will stay on his boards and cites no conflicts. No word from Bee except to say they are still OK on it, unlike its position with LK who had no conflicts whatsoever and made no big money on her boards. Nope. Bee just did not like LK and so far May is OK. What is new is that that Sacs mayor Steinberg is going to Atlanta to meet May at the Georgia Tech Innovation Square to see if it might work in Sac. Again, Sac is hoping UCD can bring hope to its city. The difference is 1) Georgia Tech is in downtown Atlanta not 20 miles away like UCD. and 2) Atlanta is the home of numerous corporate Hqs with big money to spend on innovation. Look for a big Bee push to, again, try and pry away UC funding to help redevelope its downtown to the detriment of our students. I guess you cant blame them, but May must look first to the needs of his Davis campus. Then, maybe, Sacramento.

I saw Casey play and he was great. But, Mike was 6"8 280 and quich as a cat. Played for the Raiders for some time. Sorry he was later unhappy and took his own life. I think Casey may have had a brother play as an aggie.

As far as pass rushers are concerned, no one was ever as good as mike wise ever.
  • Ags Will Play at North Dakota State in 2019
What? 1983 playoff game at Toomey seconds to go in the game Bison ahead 17-13? O'Brians pass to the end zone good for a TD. Flag thrown: offensive interference? Still in my mind the worst call I have ever witnessed in football. Our guy was going for the ball. I have a long memory. We need to beat the Bisons.
  • UCD a top ten value college
Wow, UC Davis is a top five Open Access University in the country. This is a metric that should be much more important than 'top university' which, of course is Harvard or Princeton et. Al. Because it is a measure of what the future will offer in terms of the democratic quality of our leaders to come. We need the smartest and the best leaders no matter from what economic or ethnic background or this country's in for a dim future. Finally, a good article from the bee (source: NYT).
  • MBB Article
Excellent story and we need more of them. Not as good as youtube video of the seniors though which was absolutely over the top great entertainment. Who gets the credit for that amazing video?
  • Senior Carpool Karaoke
Would love to the gals do this too! Great morale and spirit booster.
  • 2018 Recruiting List
Thanks CA. Also, the star system obviously cannot predict: loss of desire to play- Dunham and injuries: Trombetta. But, both were fun were very good and fun to watch while they lasted.
  • 2018 Recruiting List
Have we recently signed a 3 star? I believe Dunham and Trombetta were 3 stars; I cannot think of anyone else.
  • UC Davis Aggies Football Teammates Reunite
i recall scott barry like it was yesterday. great book. hope its the first of many more. i know much more in the the tank for scott.
  • Rugby club to defend national title
Why can't we fund this team to the next level? We are certainly good enough
  • UCD a top ten value college
The Bee has a disfunctional almost paranoid relationship with UC Davis. Bee loves the Medical Campus in Sac (but rarely reports on it) but viscerally hates both the UC Davis Campus and the City of Davis. Why, because Davis and UC Davis are virtually Cities on the Hill compared to Sac. Davis with its vibrant downtown and beautiful neighborhoods (yes, and middle class!) are in a class by themselves in the valley. San Francisco has no undergrad UC campuses, but regularly applauds it neighbor UC's in Berkeley, Santa Cruz, and even sometimes UC Davis. There Bee wants UCD to invest in Sac? Let it start retuning its negative coverage on the city of Davis and their campus before that is even considered. IMHO
  • Bright Future Ahead for the Aggie Women
Being a total Morgan Bertch fan from Sonoma County where she's from I will say that taking her talents from WBB to the high jump is very rare. The high jump (as in all jumping sports) is risky and dangerous. I don't think most college coaches would allow her near a the jumping pit for fear of injury and damage to WBB team. So hats off to Jen Gross and staff for letting Morgan do her thing. She's the total package athlete and super student in biomedical engineering (and damn good looking). For the world record the women's HJ is amoung the longest lasting records in the sport: 6'10 by Stefka Kostadinova of Bulgaria in 1987 at age 22. Stefka: 5'11" 132.
  • Bright Future Ahead for the Aggie Women
We still need a very quick guard to fill out this team.
  • Sping Football
Sorry, is he coming or not as I cant see any real announcement.
  • Baseball Field to Be Named After Phil Swimley
Do all other BW MBB stadiums have lights? Do cal and Stanford have lights? Frankly, I would. Not go to an aggies night game on the weekend because. . . It would be an issue with a significant other; and I really doubt that a night MBB game would be top of the list for a big date in davis for lots of reasons . Most students would not sit out there in the night cold and watch the slow progress of a MBB game; much better a game in the sun! Lights, not a real good point to advance Aggie MBB. Clubhouse: maybe. . . .IMO
  • Fixing the Aggie baseball team
I recall a few years back (when we still lived in Davis) walking behind a group of Long Beach State baseball fans in town after a game saying: "Wow, actually a great downtown? I love this place. Why aren't they better?" I have no answer to that very good question.
