It's going to be tough for sure, but you gotta believe!!!! Let's go Aggies!! National TV!! Time to show the country how good we are!!

Let's see how this looks after the season. Sports is about winning. Sports is also about having the best talent. Right now SAC has some of the best talent in the FCS if not FBS with that backfield. When you have a coaching staff and big time endorsements from high profile athletes like Shaq and Bibby this thing can grow. One thing SAC has is a great fan base - if it can be tapped for college sports, we all benafit.

We are associated with SACST and have been for a very long time. That being said, natural rivalries make the sport overall better.Cal has Stanford. USC has UCLA. Why? Because they are geographically relevant. We have that in SACST vs UCD. Don't minimalize it, embrace it. Promote it. Make it a Sacramento Metro Area game that everyone watches.

This will be really interesting to revisit after this football season.

College sports is highly geographical. SacSt and Davis are both geographically in an isolated area within the US. If we work together similar to how many schools leverage geographical areas, both schools would improve faster than doing it alone. For some reason, there are Aggies who believe we are better than SAC in a strange elitism that make working with SACST somehow impossible. That is absurd.

You think Stanford, Cal, USC, and UCLA think we are on par with those schools? Of course not, they laugh at us. We need to build something just for the SAC area. A natural rival is rare in sports, but we have one. SDSU, Fresno St, Cal Poly, none have a geographical rival like we do.

Embrace it. Build it together. In the long run it will be very successful.
  • Anyone know the projected 2 deep next year?
Will you guys be putting up the starters and 2 deep on the website?

This is a mistake if they end the Causeway Classic. Like it or not SACST and UC Davis are joined at the hip when it comes to football and sports. Outside of the local area, nobody knows UC Davis or SACST. If both schools work together they can both succeed. If they go alone, they will be have a much tougher time succeeding. Just my opinion.

You know, if they win out...we win out...that could be one hell of a Causeway Classic! Who knows, maybe nationally televised game! Now we really are both going to get free publicity.

I think we are going to benefit from what SACST is doing. I've just not figured the how just yet.

I don't know. You are right if they stumble and this falls apart it might be curtains, but something tells me there is more to the story. There are some big backer at SACST (SHAQ is huge) and if they come out hot this could gain momentum pretty fast. Add Mike Bibby and the basketball team following up and this thing has legs. Look at their first two games on their schedule:

    @SD State
    @ Nevada

If they come out with a 2-0 record the only teams I see them having a chance to lose is Montana and Davis.

If they stay and try to build something, which is possible with NIL. this could be very interesting. I love it only because we need a strong rival to elevate our program.

It's ok. I have many friends in SoCal who are around recruiting. Catching up and having some beers the other day, the topic of SACST came up without any prompt from me. Which I found interesting. That's all.

unless your in my friend group that isn’t a great statement to make. That being said, what was discussed by recruiters is the name SACST is being seen and discussed like never before in Southern California high schools.

I was just over talking to my USC buddies and was shocked about how much they liked what SACST is doing. I guess Scott Schrader and the LA high schools are starting to see SACST down there way more than ever before. This is pretty significant because USC never talks about anyone other than elite schools.

They were really liking the idea of another California school for local kids to play which allows them to stay in California.

Davis and all schools in California are pretty highly academically ranked, which is great. Offering an alternative much like many states like Alabama, Florida, Texas, Ohio, etc would be a good thing for California. Let’s see how it turns out for them.

The most interesting part of it for me was Marion talking about his growing up poor and how football was his way out of the hoodBlueGoldAg

Bingo. This is exactly what I saw too. He is going after the market of kids who can play sports but may not have strong grades. Its pretty genius if you think about it. We value education so much and chase academic rankings we forget access can be a high hurdle. SACST can be the D1 school for the everyday student. Don't need to be top of your class to come here...I think he has a very interesting idea.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
SACST becoming an HBCU in name only, but a school that caters to black athletes is pretty cool. It doesn't have to be anything formal, think Cal or Davis which has a large % of Asian students.

Good post. Let's see where this is come December. If SACST has successful season we might have to rethink this whole thing.
