Some intriguing out of conference games this week.
That Nicholls @ Sac game could be a barn burner.
Albany @ Idaho, interesting to say the least.
Eastern @ SE Louisiana, I want to watch.
Weber @ Lamar, I think that will be close.
Is Plough going to feed Lan this week? Or has the offense truly shifted to a sling first, ask questions later type of vibe? My biggest takeaway from Cal.
Part of me thinks it's strategic to not overexpose Lan early in the season, we need him for every single Big Sky contest -- and as RBs go Lan will take a pounding more than most this season, but it looks obvious he has worked hard all off-season to endure that.
Watching the highlights I don't know if it's just trying to neutralize the Cal rush, or just playing to Hastings' strengths, but we did not push the ball down the field nearly enough. If you're going to hang with a bigger, faster, deeper team you have to take chances. Yet even in the more modest approach, MH still threw 3 picks...and each one was in the over 15 yard range...all looked underthrown or badly misread.
