Didn't realize, but Nova and William & Mary are also moving to the Patriot League for football starting this season --- Richmond moved last year --- the PL also includes Lehigh, Lafayette and Holy Cross as well. This is a dramatic improvement to the football conference.

Dude, Lamson's back for another season? He was listed as a senior last year...yup, 6th year, played all season as a 'senior'. Guess he didn't really play much at Syracuse his RFr. year - had an season ending injury, so yeah, he gets the 6th season, like Rex and Porter did. Well, the Dowlers are back, Lamson's back -- good luck going against that FCS.

Little bit too much love for me with South Dakota State at No. 3, but 3 through 9 I'd say, it's kind of an Any Given Saturday - we'll see how this all shakes out...and there will be a couple of surprises in the middle of the rankings as always. Mercer took a serious shot after their 0-47 blowout loss against South Dakota at home in the opener of the '25 Playoffs. That will leave a mark on their program for some time - and with their star freshman QB Braden Atkinson transferring to Oregon State there's good reason to be skeptical.

@ San Diego is always a tough game.

Based on what I saw, it looks like ESPN+ is dumping a lot of the bad broadcast quality games to FCS schools...ie, they aren't even bothering to broadcast FCS vs. FCS games.

Hope he has a clause to renegotiate - they're on a fast track trajectory to the upper echelon of the conference... a lot can happen in 6 years.

Seeing those chairs brought back a lot of memories...I also remember in those '03, '04 and '05 seasons we had some pretty epic games with Poly...they had (and still do) some serious studs on defense. Always within a touchdown either way -- then we officially moved up and Poly went on to slaughter us for a few years under Ellerson -- '07 and '08 the Mustangs were dominant.

Then somewhere around 2018 - the year we were one defensive stop away from the Semi-Finals, the Aggies began to just annihilate the Mustangs routinely. Last year's game in SLO was hopefully an indicator of a return to competitiveness between the programs. Rivalries are only good when both teams are good.

Seeing the vs. Poly game in mid-November at the end of the regular season should be a hell of a turnout right before Thanksgiving. Looking forward to this one, we had a good game last year - and it'll be exciting to see where both teams are at - could be a game that means a lot beyond the typical connotations.

Colter - when Davis eventually jumps up to the Mountain West, I personally will miss your steadfast coverage of all the Big Sky schools. Having you on the scene is really a blessing.

Uh, nobody - they run the table in a weak league, but they are very well coached and they do play good team football. To their credit they played a very tough game vs. Villanova in their opener in the '25 playoffs. Lost 14-7, at home.

Idaho State on the upward trend and then some - big step taking season for them in 2026.

It's too bad Davis @ ISU isn't on the 2026 schedule, after the game last year in Davis, that would be a hot ticket, one I might go to actually.
