  • Chicken Pox Outbreak hits 3 San Diego State Aztecs
"What if I told you a football season was derailed by the chicken pox..."
  • Mark Payne retires at 29
Looks like Harden is a winemaker with Robert Mondavi.

  • 2017-18 schedule
Huskies were awful last year and it cost Lorenzo Romar his job. UDub hired the top assistant from Syracuse to take the helm so the Huskies will be in rebuild mode.

One of HC Mike Hopkins' hires should ring a bell...former Seattle U HC Cameron Dollar is now an assistant with the Huskies.
  • Are sac state and UCSD coming to Big West?
Sac State is in the Big West for soccer and UCSD is in the Big West for men's volleyball. They're both affiliate members, similar to what we are in the Big Sky for football.
  • NCAA Redefines Quality Wins
Life is a lot busier for me than it ever has been. I finally had some free time and decided to post. ;)
  • NCAA Redefines Quality Wins
Yes, but it really only helps if we schedule relatively decent teams or teams at our level. Starting against mid-level WCC, Pac 12, and Mountain West teams is a good place to start. Northern Colorado (RPI 287), North Carolina A&T (RPI 350), Lamar (RPI 232), and even Sac State (RPI 293) aren't exactly what the committee is looking for.

The flip side is that all of those teams in theory will be looking for road games against better or similar teams. To me, it's a catch 22 similar to FBS teams scheduling FCS teams.
  • Baseball coach's contract
"Alex G. Spanos founded A. G. Spanos Companies in 1960 and has owned the San Diego Chargers since 1982. In addition to attending all Charger games during the National Football League season, Spanos also has played golf with best friend Bob Hope on some of the most prestigious courses around the world and was invited to represent the United States in the 1960 British Amateur Championship.

Spanos was an aerospace engineering major at Cal Poly, attending the university in 1941 and 1942. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving until the war ended in 1945. While a Cal Poly student, he participated in men's swimming and diving and was the drum major for the Mustang Marching Band.

Following his military service, Spanos earned varsity letters in both swimming and diving at College of the Pacific in 1946."

  • 2017-18 schedule
Wazzu game looks good on paper but their RPI at the end of last year was 166, Pacific was at 223, and we finished at 166. USF ended at 94 and is so far the best team we'll play unless we face Nevada (29) in the Las Vegas tournament.

I think CP tapped into donors a while ago (Spanos, Krukow, etc.) and have been able to build auxiliary buildings and new facilities to support their programs. It also helps that it costs less money to go to a CSU than a UC meaning they can free up more cash for improvements and not have to spend it all on tuition.
  • MBB 2017 Recruits
He was going to be squeezed for playing time as Bennett was going to fill Rahon's minutes with Jordan Ford.

Do we really need another guard?
  • Fixing the Aggie baseball team
Now that beer is being sold at sporting events, UCD should mimic what Poly is doing with Krukow's Corner, or whatever it is called.

Lights are an absolute must. If the Little League fields at the corner of Covell and F have lights, ICA should have them as well.
  • MBB 2017 Recruits
It's never too late to do it. Steph Curry reworked his shot after college and it was well worth.

If Lonzo Ball wants to make a contested jump shot without watching the ball go into the fifth row he'll be reworking his right now.

It takes a big commitment from the player, coaching staff, and likely a shooting coach.

Russell should hook up with Ryan Sypkens who I believe is in the area as a shooting coach. He knows something about how to shoot a basketball.
  • MBB 2017 Recruits
    30% from the line?! :-O

Pair him up with a coach and have him shoot FT's all day long in the gym!

Maybe it was because he was shooting the ball at 7,000 feet. Too much oompf?
  • Causeway Cup
We must be finding ways to give them a few charity points.
  • Les Could Be Considered for New Mexico Head Coach
I'm sure that will play well in the state of New Mexico, especially in the Las Cruces area.
  • Fixing the Aggie baseball team
IMO, you have to play a little Moneyball. Create a system and recruit guys who fit in that system. Guys who might be overlooked but play the kind of baseball you want.
  • Pending approval
    Done. Sorry for the delay!
  • Done with baseball.
Ags won Sunday and took the series 2-1.
