  • Will the Fans Ever Really Come Back?
It did not seem like there were 8000 at the game last night. Maybe total tickets sold but not people in the seats.

Hard to understand the logic of not showing up the game after a blowout win.
  • Week 6: Eastern Washington @ UC Davis
Disappointing that there was such a big drop off in attendance from the last home game.

It is amazing how anything CLOSE to Doss is either a catch or a near catch. He made some unreal plays on balls that beat him but off target. He is really fun to watch.

It's named after the former mayor of San Francisco who was a Saint Mary's alum.

@movielover You are correct, they moved the baseball field to the north to accommodate the new Alioto Student Rec Center. The field is beautiful but they do not have permanent seats or a press box...yet. Also, no lights. ML, I still have yet to go to one dry Christian Brothers event. Hell, the Christian Brothers' regional headquarters is a winery in Napa!

As for the size of the schools, it had more to do with their mission than anything else. Classes are extremely small and you get a lot of one-on-one attention.

How about we schedule a game with a school in Texas? I'd love to tailgate at one of those games!

The biggest school in the WCC is also the newest member, BYU. They dwarf all the other conference schools in terms of enrollment. You don't see too many Catholic schools with large student bodies. Even Notre Dame only has 12,000 students.

Saint Mary's isn't "in the middle of nowhere" but it is a little off the beaten path. ML, is correct, there are no motels/hotels in Moraga or Orinda. Closest one I can think of is the Lafayette Park Hotel, but that one is pricey. If you live in the Sac area you can easily drive there and back in a day. Hour-plus drive depending on traffic and where you are located.

Utah is a beautiful campus. It's up the hill from downtown and has really nice views of the entire Salt Lake region.

Haven't been to New Mexico, but Bako is...well...Bako.

@movielover, you are correct about FS.

    Road games:
    Cal (football/basketball)
    Stanford (football/baseball/basketball)
    San Jose State (football)
    Portland State (football)
    Hawaii (football)
    Weber State (football)
    Nevada (football/basketball)
    Southern Utah (football)
    Montana (football)
    Boise State (football)
    Northern Arizona (football)
    University of San Diego (football)
    Fresno State (football)
    Saint Mary's (baseball/basketball tournament)

Best: Hawaii because it is Hawaii. But best regular opponent is Montana. Hands down best game day atmosphere. The fans are friendly and invite you in to their tailgates, city/surrounding area is 150% about the team, and it gets LOUD in Wa-Griz.

    Worst: Fresno State. Self-explanatory.

Hard to turn down a chance to play in one of the best basketball conferences in the country. Annual games against Duke, North Carolina, and Syracuse would be difficult to say no to!

Slight difference from UCR, Northridge, and Fullerton...

    And winning records/playoff appearances/playoff wins.
  • Week 5: North Dakota @ UC Davis
I think it will take several years of consistent sellouts, a large increase in sustained donations, and several large individual donations to expand. I'd rather see support facilities built than an expansion.
  • Week 5: North Dakota @ UC Davis
I don't disagree, but I think the percentage of season ticket holders is still on the lower end of the spectrum.

It is great that folks buy season tickets and come up for a game or two but there should be some sort of established secondary market/fan exchange for those seats if they choose to not make the drive.

It's a win-win for everyone. If you can't make it, put the tickets on (insert vendor here) and the STH is able to recoup some of their money and butts are in the seats. As you said drmike, more people = better environment and greater demand for tickets.

I know that demand hasn't been that high outside of the first few seasons at Aggie Stadium but with 9,500 against a virtually unknown opponent to the majority of our fan base means demand is ticking up.
  • Week 5: North Dakota @ UC Davis
Keep in mind, we don't have that many season ticket holders. I'm sure the number will rise next year.
  • Week 5: North Dakota @ UC Davis
Video game numbers. EWU is not a team anyone wants to get in a shootout with.
  • Week 5 games
Idaho joins the Big Sky next year...I think.
  • Week 5 games
Weber State 25-17 on the road over Montana State.

    EWU 52-31 over Slac

Montana 45-33 win at Portland State.

NAU leading UNC 20-7 at half.
  • Week 4: UC Davis @ Weber State
Don't take it down! People who love the outdoors live in states where they can hike and generally stay away from New York City.

    I get what you're saying. ;)
  • Week 4: UC Davis @ Weber State
Montana is a fantastic place to visit! Fishing, hunting, hiking, if you love the outdoors it is the place to go!

The reason why people show up isn't because they are bored, it's because Montana and Montana State are the only game in town.
  • Week 4: UC Davis @ Weber State
I'm sure whatever game plan we had going in was thrown out the window once we were down 17-3 at the end of the first quarter and especially at half.

UND is no slouch even though their record doesn't reflect it. Have to focus on the Fighting Hawks (doesn't sound right).
