Before this set of morning news, I'd give UC Davis a small chance to get into the Mountain West, and virtually impossible to be into the Pac-12. I now downgrade MWC chances to very small and upgrade PAC-12 chances to very small as well.

Gonzaga is heading towards PAC-12. However, I was most surprised that Grand Canyon was in consideration:

I didn't pay attention on how we paid our $40 million sports-health complex. Can someone explain how? I just want to have an idea if we can learn from that experience.

Apparently, some mediocre FBS schools succeed and others fail. I presume UC Davis should be in a healthier financial position over other schools like Nevada or San Jose State, right?

How are the finances of mediocre FBS programs? How do they justify staying in the FBS?

My dream football conference would be Cal Poly, Sacramento State, San Jose State, UC Davis, Hawaii, Nevada, and UNLV. I think people could be hyped playing these teams over the Big Sky's teams. This feels geographically more of a Far West Conference though.

There is one rumor that a couple of power conferences are discouraging the Pac-12 and the Mountain West from inviting any FCS schools. I'll see if I can find that Tweet during my downtime unless if someone else can find it before me.

As of this writing, fourteen "bracketologists" give Long Beach State an average seeding of 14.93.
UC Davis was at 14.88 seeding from 78 "bracketologists" before they got eliminated.

I don't know. I presume their bigs are just dominant against any mid-major team. They weren't first or second teams for no reason.

Most "bracketologists" project Long Beach State to be a #15 seed. There are a lot of bad teams that have qualified into March Madness.

I should probably say, "First Four" for the first four #16 seeds in the March Madness bracketology. It's unlikely UCD will be in the First Four since five teams clearly have significantly worse NET ratings than UCD's NET ratings.

I looked at several dozen bracketologies, and UC Davis is generally chosen as the #15 seed. It looks like UCD is clearly better than five teams who have a NET rating worse than 200.
