    Random thoughts from yesterday:

    1) Aggie Pack: I continue to be disappointed and underwhelmed by this so-called student section. No organization, no leadership, no knowledge of football. The loudest they were all night was while mugging for a camera before a punt all 200 of them. Seriously? AP leadership of 10, 12 years ago must be livid with what they have since become.

    2) Lack of concentration: It sure seemed like we put it into cruise control after going up 21-0 6:00 into the game. Also, a dance party by the benches when Poly punted late in the 4th but before the 3-and-out with Spencer and Maier? Really bad look.

    3) What the hell are we doing benching Meier with 459 YARDS for Spencer the first 2 downs of what ultimately was the most critical possession of the game? And then put Maier in for 3rd down? Can we more blatantly telegraph what we are doing? Yes, we most likely would run to burn clock and the last Poly timeout, but taking out Maier allowed Poly to sell out on the run, and then know the pass was surely coming on 3rd & long. Could not have been more conservative with the Spencer keepers on 1st and 2nd. Play to win the game.

    4) Horseshoe: I saw the photo of the trophy on my phone and had to ZOOM IN to see it. Isn't this the 3rd iteration of the trophy? I guess we know what the solution is: never lose to Poly again. Pretty asinine and ridiculous if you ask me - 12 years, 3 trophies. FBS rivalry game trophies have been around for generations. Get it together Poly.

Looking forward to returning to campus with the fam and bringing the little tyke to his first football game! He's excited to see Gunrock, but if he's anything like his parents...that will evaporate when it comes to being there in-person.

    Go Ags!
  • Favorite university to visit for away games ?
Gameday in Flagstaff is bland - the only saving grace was a whole pig being cooked up on a rotating spit through the duration of the pregame tailgate.
  • Favorite university to visit for away games ?
I'll steal 6th's list and edit since we've been on numerous trips:

    Road games:
    Cal (football)
    Cal Poly (football)
    Irvine (basketball)
    Long Beach State (basketball)
    Pacific (basketball)
    Stanford (football/basketball)
    San Jose State (football)
    Portland State (football)
    Weber State (football)
    Nevada (football)
    Montana (football)
    Boise State (football)
    Northern Arizona (football)
    University of San Diego (football)
    Fresno State (football)
    Saint Mary's (football '01)
    J Street Tech (football/basketball)

Best: Montana. If you can make it to Missoula, GO. Like 6th said, great crowd, atmosphere, and small town charm tied in with a community who is ALL-IN and rabid supporters for the Griz. It's the biggest big-time of western FCS schools. San Diego (because San Diego) and Boise (similar reasons as Montana but to a lesser or different degree) follow.

Worst: Fresno. Don't go, just don't.
  • Week 6: Eastern Washington @ UC Davis
I have plans this weekend or else I would have tried to sneak back to campus for this one. Darn.
  • UC Davis Receives Votes in STATS FCS Football Poll
By those numbers...Saturday should be a good one!
  • Any Given Saturday (Biggest FCS Message Board): "Is UC Davis Back?
Old Town restaurant and bar hopping - we'll have to coordinate in about 23 months.
  • Any Given Saturday (Biggest FCS Message Board): "Is UC Davis Back?
I hear you on that! Whenever we visit San Diego, Casa Guadalajara is a MUST for my wife and I. I guess I might be changing travel itineraries....
  • UC Davis Receives Votes in STATS FCS Football Poll
The Ags picked up an additional 10 votes (for a total of 12) in this week's poll. They could get closer to a seat at the top 25 table with a win over No. 18 (coaches)/23 (STATS) Weber State.
  • Post game discussion: UC Davis @ Portland St
SDSU beats Stanford with a last-minute touchdown.

The Card might be in for a challenging season.
  • Post game discussion: UC Davis @ Portland St
I haven't been this jacked for Aggie Football since I was an undergrad (okay, the September afterwards when we beat Stanford. Meh, details.).

We were planning on coming up as a family for Homecoming, but, at this rate...maybe it might be time to think about an earlier trip back to campus for the little tyke and I.
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Portland State
Having attended 2 games in person up there, I (as well as Finn & 6th) can vouch - great tickets are still available.
  • Week 2: University of San Diego @ UC Davis
Aren't there analytics out there that hypothesize that even at that point in the field...that's the right play? (To go for it)
  • Week 2: University of San Diego @ UC Davis
With timeouts still to burn. Naaaaah.
  • Week 2: University of San Diego @ UC Davis
Or it up the middle. Again. Again. Again.
