Interesting article in the Idaho Statesman that adds clarification.

    - Dan Hawkins no longer owns a home in Boise, he'll remain in Davis
    - Cody Hawkins: "I’ve known for years that as soon as my dad retired, Plough was going to be the head coach. That’s part of the reason I came here, because I love Plough and respect him, and I knew whether it was one year, four years or five years, Plough was going to be the head coach. He deserves to be the head coach there.' "
    - Coach Hawk has children in Boise, North Carolina and Portland
    - Dad will help raise $$$ for name, image and likeness program

UC Davis Athletics: Dan Hawkins Inks Contract Extension Through 2027 6/30/2022

" "This contract provides the continuity necessary to build on the recent achievements of our players and staff," said Hawkins."

I can't access articles in the Davis Enterprise and elsewhere on his 2022 contract extension (and likely raise), but in 2022 he made $283,522.00 plus benefits.

If they keep him on the payroll three years, my understanding is that he'll add 3% per year to his UC pension.

How big was Hawkins role in raising funds for the $40 million athletic performance facility and practice field? Really key for ICA.

2019 was an odd year. Several polls predicted us to come in 2nd with Jake Maier and Jared Harrell back, Ulonzo Gilliam rushing for over 1200 yards, Kris Vaugh (#1) and Lance Babbs a breakout threat. (#2 in receiving) We were loaded at wide out and had Plough running the offense. Harrell never got untracked.
  • Looking Ahead to the 2024 Football Season Discussion
Apparently Pacific Northwest writer Canzano is predicting that Cal will play Oregon State and Wazzu next year. They only have one open date.

So there is speculation that Cal will buy us out to beef up their SoS next year. Right now we're booked at Cal on Sat., Aug. 31 to open the season.

Thete were obviously reasons he never became an OC or HC after decades.

Write for California: "The first year TE [Plough] coach with the Bears has been instrumental in the development of Jack Endries and the rest of the tight end room. In the run game, Endries, JT Byrne, Asher Alberding, and Jeffrey Johnson have all played big roles in pulling blocks, creating holes for Jaydn Ott, Isaiah Ifanse, and others to run through. It’s been nothing short of spectacular, after the tight end room lacked identity in recent seasons."

Huh? Coach Gould seems like a great guy, outstanding RB coach, but a horrible choice as HC. Coach Biggs early announcement gave Terry Tumey more than a year to find a replacement, and he failed miserably. My sources say TT reportedly offered Hawk the job, Hawk told him what he needed (likely more funding for coaches salaries), and TT came back with the same exact offer months later. Hawk was like, "WTF?" Hawk knew what was needed to compete against EWU, Montana, and ND State.

Imagine if we had hired Coach Hawkins four years earlier, without the Gould train wreck. Well, Gould did find Doss.

What is Coach Plough's history as Coordinator?

""I was honored to carry Aggie football forward and now will hand off to another," Hawkins said. "This is not a retirement or stepping aside from being involved with Aggie Athletics. Rocko is allowing me to stay on board as a special assistant. I've got plenty of juice and life left in me to help the Aggies, and embrace any other adventures that lie ahead. I will continue to pursue my life's passion of making a positive difference in the lives of others. The journey continues!" "

Are they still going to pay him full salary?

Our press release: "Hawkins played fullback at College of the Siskiyous in Weed, Calif. (1978-80) prior to attending UC-Davis."

Boise took some bad losses, they needed a scalp. I believe Sochor thought highly of young Plough.

Given recruiting, budgets, competition for HCs from other schools, I'm guessing this has been in the works for weeks. MBB and FB the two top hires for an AD.
  • 2024 Football Recruiting
Recruits will LOVE Tim Plough! He'll JUICE up the offense and bring young energy. --> Shredville.
  • Lan Larison named Big Sky offensive player of the year
Maybe LL comes back as Coach Plough should light up our offense.
  • Transfer Portal 2024
Plough will juice up the offense.

Maybe a proactive move by Rocko and Hawk, better 2 years early than 2 years late?

Offense really struggled this year, and who knows what will happen with the Pac 2 / Mountain West juggling. Recall in a previous football broadcast, Chancellor May said we're working on something... it seemed big. FWIW, I believe the NCAA removed the attendance requirement to go to FBS.

Wow. Not a candidate at Oregon State?

And the South Davis home is likely completely remodeled.
