If we're bring in above average students to compete with exceptional classmates, I think we know what we'll get - more social justice and mass communications majors, and more dropouts. Dr. Thomas Sowell and Dr. Walter Williams (both black) have written on the topic - the students who could excel at San Jose State are recruited to MIT or Berkeley, and often flunk out.

My friends in academia say its a way to slow Asian students representation while increasing Latino and Black enrollment. They'vd been after this for years. So a kid with an SAT in the 90th percentile from Lowell HS will be bypassed got a student with average or no SAT scores from Stockton.

A friend had a near 4.0 from a prestigious high school, while a gal he dated bragged about her 4.0 from the Central Valley. He excelled in engineering, she struggled w basics classes.

I can take some guesses. We're about 40 Million residents, likely more with undocumented immigrants. Asian and Indian American families put a high priority on education, and the UC has chosen to bring in foreign students to pad their budgets (high out of state fees). We built one new campus and expanded a few.

It seems the past 3-4 years this has become the new hot discussion for the SJW, but rarely do they mention the astronomical suicide rates for these young people with gender dysphoria. When they do, they often use it as justification for early transitioning / reassignment, but I don't see the definitive evidence showing that is the defacto best choice. An article I read a few years back said the longitudinal studies are difficult to compile given the high suicide rate and stable lives many of these individuals lead. Another article said many trans individuals, as they mature, end up identifying as gay or bisexual.

For the record, I know a group that is primarily lesbian women. The most level headed person there is a trans man. Really a nice man. But even his lesbian partner admits that "Fred", in his 40s, was indecisive about the transition. Has a career, educated, in a LTR, and confused.

Caitlyn Jenner was a two time Olympic athlete and won the gold metal, and a 'trans advocate'. Today many young people consider 'trans' issues edgy and cool, like bisexuality was 20 years ago.

Do you not believe the brain is still developing until 23 or 25? If a 30 year old wants to change genders, ok. But why would anyone advocate or support a teenager - still going through puberty - having reassignment surgery? (I believe a top Biden official, a trans woman herself, supports children having reassignment *without* their parents approval???)

Lesbians and trans women are different. Biology 1. Trans women have male anatomy, brains, size, etc. Not to mention the psychopaths and sociopaths who will claim to be trans to get into the girls locker room.

And shocking to me that the two 15 year old Connecticut track athletes are on hormone therapy to transition, when they aren't even fully developed physically, mentally, or emotionally.

Being 'trans' is edgy now, cool for some.
